CD Review - Speed Circus - Rosie [EP] Speed Circus - Rosie [EP]

Indie, punk, rock, maybe even blues.. its pretty hard to label this EP with any of those terms, so we'll go for a montage. The best song on Speed Circus' Rosie - EP is most definitely the title track; Rosie. Rosie's ridiculously infectious chorus is hard not to sing along to, even after only listening to it a few times. Its a good start.

The EP carries on in a similar way throughout, and its a sound first attempt, but Speed Circus have got a long-ish way to go before they secure variation. This EP, has a good collection of songs, but they all feel very similar although this isn't a huge problem whilst listening as it becomes enjoyable background music. Maybe the only bad thing about this EP is its tendency to, all to quickly become background music, you suddenly reach the final track: Power Struggle, and realize that you are not too sure exactly how you got there.

Lastly, Track 6 - Power Struggle, has backing vocals which sound sinisterly like the Umpa Lumpa song?! Make of it what you will! Over all, Rosie EP by Speed Circus is a nice little EP. It is a shame that it has been released in November though as a summer release would have suited it much better. For me its the perfect beach music.
