Cast Of The Capital - Demo
Steve Lamacq seems to be pushing all kinds of weird, wonderful and pretty poor music into the radio air waves of late. One of his latest to hit the FM is this four piece from Aberdeen. Apparently "Inspired by the places they have been, the people they have met, and most of all, their love of music.". I think that says it all really. A weak and feeble attempt to push across a new band wanting a signature of the big wigs.
Cast Of The Capital do try and win you over with their weak, puppy dog vocals. Taking on a gentle role within the songs. Musically it's another simplistic remedy to cure the musical itch. Having said that the demo seems to have alot of effort put in, with some half decent production and well thought out verse chorus structure. 'Stone Breaking' applys a catchy "Right now, Right now" vocal that seems too difficult to fight off. The track is then let down with an elongated "oooohh".
With some work and a good producer The Cast Of The Capital could well start earing themselves some Capital in the long haul. I say they are crusty pants but If Steve Lamacq says they are good then it must be true, well, who gets paid more, erm, Steve does.
