OK... then read on.

If you're reading this then you probably already know that Altsounds is dedicated to bringing its readers the best new music available. However, did you also know that we care about all you unsigned musicians out there (well, at least the good ones...) struggling to get some recognition, searching high and low (and in between) to find a receptive audience?

With this in mind we've decided to create a twice weekly feature headed by me, new Altsounds writer Joseph Scott (hello!) called 'Unknown Pleasures', dedicated to reviewing unsigned alternative Altsounds artists. You, the unsigned musician, can then quote the reviews on your MySpace, in your press materials, etc., and eventually when you're signed give us a "If it wasn't for Altsounds I wouldn't be here right now" shout out in your CD's liner notes.

By 'alternative' I - Joseph Scott, your potential reviewer - mean unfamiliar, challenging, different, non-conformist, non-generic and everything that mainstream music is not.

Here's a list of 'alternative' musicians to guide you:

• Established classics
  John Coltrane, Steve Reich, My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, Wolfgang Voigt (i.e. Gas, Studio 1, etc.), Beatles, Don Cherry, Stooges, Ramones, Suicide, Serge Gainsbourg, Melt Banana, Public Enemy, (early 2000s) Cat Power, VU, 'Metal Machine Music', etc.
  
• Newbies
  Joanna Newsom, The Neptunes, Clipse, Panda Bear, Panda Riot (I like pandas...), Sufjan Stevens, The Cool Kids, Tickley Feather, Ariel Pink, Flying Lotus, MF Doom, Madlib, The Field, Girl Talk and so on.

While I will TRY to not review things I dislike, sending me music that's irrelevant wastes my time and yours.

So, with this in mind, you can send links to your Altsounds Artist pages and whatever details you wish to provide to me here.

We'd love to be reviewed. What do we need to do next?
We are Oak Lane, an unsigned band looking to get our music heard. We have an entire album available free to download. Our style is eclectic, mainly what happens when you blend Rock with Pop, Pop Punk & Metal….all upbeat & up tempo with positive lyrics.
