Interns Needed: Photographers

Happy snappers needed for gig photography across the world

Well for the past year and a half we have been busy taking on interns to write reviews and do interviews with bands and all that fun stuff. We have so many good people on board now it was time to find camera talent. Photographers are a VERY important part of the current music scene and whenever I am at a gig there is always at least one photographer there (apart from myself).

Why not put that photography skill of yours to the test and come photograph for Altsounds.com. We can organize you photo passes for tours of bands we work with. All that is required in turn is to upload the photos to Altsounds.com for our visitors to see. Whereas a review is a textual based overview of the show experienced, we like the idea of our Photographers doing the same thing but with visuals. You can also feel free to upload any other photos you want too for gigs that you didn't do for us just so others that will be interested can check out your skills.

Do what you love and get to photograph the bands of your dreams at the same time. We ask all photographers to upload the photos within one day of the gig to make sure that the Altsounds gallery becomes the influx of visuals I hope it will end up being.

If you have a camera and an eye for photography, then why not apply and do something really fun and worthwhile from your passion?

I would love to do this. I used to have a beautiful camera but it got destroyed one night. It was easy to use and good quality photos. I want to buy another one but am about to buy a laptop as well, any camera suggestions - on the cheaper side of right.

You should make sure to go for a DSLR if you are considering getting a camera.

DSLR?? its all about the film. i would like to get into this when i get my new (actually quite old Nikon F-301) camera next month..

LBee- personally i would recommend getting a film SLR as for a fraction of the price of a digital (about £30) you can get much better results, and most devlopers will put your film onto a CD so you can get them onto your shiny new laptop as well

The price of the film SLR maybe a fraction of that of a DSLR, but then there is the constant cost of film and developing, even if you just get the photos put onto a cd, they will still charge. I can't imagine how much I've saved by shooting digital over the last 6 years!
These is also the ease and speed of a DSLR, you can shoot a gig and have the photos ready to go the same night, as long you don't mind editing in your sleep ;p
As far as results, that's all down to the photographer, not the camera, in my opinion anyway.

I am with Lucy on this in terms of quality of photo. Then again, I have not seen the results of an absolute top of the range digital. On the whole though, digital just doesn't campare for me.

Obviously if LBee is on a budget though, then the price is the main thing for her to consider.

I think at the end of the day it's personal preference. Some people just like the way a photo looks when taken on a film SLR, some people prefer the digital look. In terms of quality, resolution etc, I think DSLR's have come a long way, and are a on par with film SLR's. Most pro's have moved to digital for this very reason, but that's not to say that film doesn't have a place, because obviously it does.

.
don't you ever get your pictures printed then?? even if its digital you need good quality paper and a nice print out. thats not going to be much less than getting a CD made. the cost of 35ml film is fairly cheap now anyway.

I like to have my pictures in my hands to look at, rather than on a screen.

but i do admit that i have given up buying food to afford getting my 120 film developed.

Digital SLRs are awesome. The flexibility and what you can do is WAY more
than with a regular film SLR. There's no comparison for me, digital all the
way to the bank.

I'm not a big fan of digital to be honest. But they are cheaper maintenance and running, but I may have to sell some body parts to own one in the first place. I like this £30 chit chat too. Where can I get one?
