KOTCHY 'SHE MADE IT EASY' REMIX CONTEST KOTCHY 'SHE MADE IT EASY' REMIX CONTEST Brooklyn-based producer Kotchy (Chad Curlow) is a singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and all round super talented. If you've been lucky enough to see him live or performing with NY revered bands such as The Epochs and Violet (with members of Fischerspooner, Rufus Wainwright, Joan As Police Woman, Polyphonic Spree) then more than likely you'll have already taken note! He's like Beck meets Prince mixed up with Pharrell's production, as beats shift from glitched out pop to dub-conscious hip hop with drop and hang stylings in the vein of J. Dilla, Flying Lotus and Rustie. Fresh from remixing Tricky and working with Yo Majesty (Domino), Starkey (Planet Mu) and Virus Syndicate (Planet Mu) he's primed for the release of his debut longplayer '89', of which the 7"single 'She Made It Easy' is the first taste. Kotchy's percussively-rooted electro-acoustic hybrid productions are littered with subtle melodies, harmonised with straight heat lyrics and a cool delivery. 'She Made It Easy' is a 4/4 hybrid of NYC disco and emo-esq guitar, a glitched and whispered tale of a girl who entered and left his life, which unexpectedly draws inspiration from the ease of the break as oppose to the pain of it. The flipside is 'Bruce Fleetwood', a cheeky little number that combines The Boss and The Mac. Subtle production and simple elegance fuse the two, making one sexy love child. The limited edition 7" (500, released September), with artwork from Kotchy's lifelong buddy and fast rising street artist Joerael Elliott, is being jointly released by labels-to-watch Seclusiasis and Civil Music. Palms Out Sounds are now hosting a remix contest for 'She Made It Easy' and you can win a release on Seclusiasis Records. Deadline is October 25th. Palms Out Sounds |
