The Roots are one of the most unique, relevant, and important musical acts today. The Philadelphia-based group has pushed hip-hop to a new level through the use of live instrumentation, prolific lyrics, and collaborations with diverse artists.
The latest album from The Roots, Rising Down, couldn't come at a more appropriate time. Their most political release to date, co-founder ?uestlove describes it as "more mature and intense than all of our efforts." The track, "Criminal", deals with issues of injustice and life on the streets and features guests Truck North and Saigon.
For Round 1 of the contest, The Roots have made the original stems from "Criminal" available to Indaba users. The eclectic sound and live-instrument arrangement of the track give you unlimited possibilities for remixing and re-imagination - so get started now!
