Yo...so I saw MCR on Saturday Night Live and thought they were effing terrible.

I listened to their album online THE BLACK PARADE

I think it's alright...but what the hell are they doing? It's like they listened to a lot of Queen and got a copy of Ludo's Broken Bride and wanted to make their own version.

Gotta say, the album is decent..sounds great recorded. Can't say the same for the live performances.

What do you guys think about 'concept albums' like this? Do you think this was good timing on their part? I mean they were on the cusp of being the biggest band in the country, and then they put this out. Think its a publicity thing? Lemme know whatchoo think...

I wish there was more bands like No Doubt and Sublime. Back in the day, I was really into them. It would be cool if No Doubt put out some new music? What do you think ? They just released a New DVD. I was just surfing the Net at my work, UMGD , I ran across a pre view of No Doubt's Live In The Tragic Kingdom DVD which is in stores NOW. It brought back so many memories! The DVD includes the band's historic live concert performance filmed in Anaheim, California (1997) on No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom Tour Plus Bonus footage that includes the band's own home movies, three live song performances from Den Haag, a photo gallery and an alternate video version of "Don't Speak". My favorite was this band HELMET. I heard some of thier new stuff at Fontana, where I work. They totally rock!!!

Remembering Alice In Chains' Layne Staley

Launch Radio Networks reports: ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist Layne Staley died four years ago yesterday (April 5), at the end of a long and tragic descent into heroin addiction that ultimately sidelined his career and his band after three studio albums, an acoustic live disc and two EPs. The 34-year-old singer had all but disappeared from public view during the last few years of his life. His body was not found in his Seattle home until April 20, 2002, two weeks after the date on which it was ultimately determined that he died.

Staley was born in Kirkland, Washington on August 22, 1967 and began playing drums at the age of 12. He soon switched to singing and met guitarist Jerry Cantrell in 1987. The pair formed ALICE IN CHAINS, which started out as a glam band but eventually became one of Seattle's biggest "grunge" exports.

Cantrell, bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney recently reunited to appear at a taping of the VH1 Classic series "Decades Rock Live!" and plan to tour this summer with guest vocalists on the mic. Inez told Launch that the surviving members of the band still feel Staley's presence onstage with them. "He's in our hearts and we're carrying him with us every place we're gonna be playing this year," he said. "If anything we've got an angel looking out for us, you know, and of course, he's crazy."

When Slaves on Dope veterans Frank Salvaggio and Rob Urbani were pursuing a fresh musical start after their band's dissolution, former Unloco guitarist and vocalist Joey Duenas was simultaneously looking for a new project to sink his teeth into. Joey, Rob and Frank were no strangers, having toured together countless times with their previous bands. The addition of Austin native and seasoned guitar player Shaun Stockton provided the final piece of the puzzle. The Ozzfest alums, along with newcomer Shaun, converged in Austin, Texas with a singular vision: creating great music and delivering it to their fans, old and new. And here they are - intense, focused and driven. A New Beginning... A New Revolution.

After an over two year hiatus, hard rock titans Switched, (best known for their chart-climbing singles �Inside� and �Tendeadfingers�), will be hitting the road for a month-long headlining trek beginning April 7th in support of their newly released sophomore LP, Ghosts in the Machine. The outing will mark the first major touring for Switched since 2003 when they made rounds on Ozzfest, Warped Tour, Sevendust, Nonpoint, Fear Factory, Machine Head and Chimaira.

The touring lineup will feature original vocalist Ben Schigel, and guitarists Joe Schigel and B.C. GITM which features 11 new unreleased tracks, as well as a second disc of B-sides, Demos, and rarities, hit stores January 10th, and has already made a huge impact at Active Rock radio, with �Empty Promises� being featured on nationally syndicated programs like Hard Drive, and the single currently sitting at #3 on the Mediabase Active Rock Independent Label Chart, with spins to date on over 50 stations. Having conquered their native country of Canada with two Gold albums and six �Top 10� singles (including two #1 singles at rock radio), The TREWS are ready to take on the U.S. with the April 18th release of Den of Thieves through Red Strategic Marketing (RSM)/Sony BMG.

Since the release of their 2003 debut, House of Ill Fame, The TREWS have become one of Canada�s most recognized rock bands. They are excited to break in to the U.S. market and have a return performance at this year�s SXSW Music Festival to kick off their album release.

�For the past three years, we�ve enjoyed the success that we�ve earned in Canada. Not only have we learned a lot about the business but we�ve also matured both personally and musically. I think Den of Thieves reflects this and that we are ready for the U.S.,� said vocalist Colin MacDonald.

Den Of Thieves was recorded with Grammy award-winning producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, John Lennon, The New York Dolls). Douglas encouraged a conscious effort to present many musical influences on their sophomore album. The songs that comprise Den of Thieves include an eclectic mix of their trademark heavy hitting rock sound mixed with melodic undertones evidenced by the use of horns, strings, harmonica and even banjo. So far, the critics are eating it up.

Released last summer in Canada, Den of Thieves has earned rave reviews from such esteemed critics as Dexter Haven of Access Magazine who wrote; "It's not like The Trews invented Rock N' Roll, but I'll be damned if Den Of Thieves almost makes me think they did."

Adair To Release The Destruction of Everything is the Beginning of Something New February 21st
Album Release is Just in Time for Their Performance on This Year�s Taste of Chaos Tour

WARCON Enterprises has announced that, in conjunction with the Taste of Chaos Tour, newly-signed artist Adair is set to release its much-anticipated album The Destruction of Everything is the Beginning of Something New on February 21st. Adair will be performing on the tour (which kicks off February 16th) along side such acts The Deftones, Thrice, As I Lay Dying and more.

Produced by Allan Hessler, who has worked with The Used, Story of the Year and Goldfinger, the album is a rich testament to the hard work and perseverance that the band has put forth since its inception.

The current Adair lineup includes vocalist Rob Tweedie, guitarist/vocalist Josh Goldenhersh, guitarist James Grossenheider, drummer Mike Jost and former Open Hand bassist Jeff Meyer. Having evolved their sound into what it is today, Adair combine a myriad of influences and emotions to create music that evokes intense emotion and a tense sense of urgency on The Destruction of Everything is the Beginning of Something New. Songs like �The Diamond Ring� and �Seatbelts Off� show a melding of raw aggression and melodic beauty as evidenced by lyrics such as �I�m on the bathroom floor/Screaming as I die some more.� It is impossible to label Adair with any one genre-conforming term, as they don�t quite fit the blueprint of post hardcore, but they have a darker, more intense approach than most indie rock bands and there is also a distinct punk rock element present in their aural attack. Adair also recently performed the song �Age Of Innocence� for Shot Full Of Diamonds: A Smashing Pumpkins Tribute.

Due to manufacturing delays, the release date for the American pressing of The Hellacopters� acclaimed new album, Rock & Roll Is Dead, has been pushed back two weeks to Feb. 7. It will still contain two bonus tracks not included on any other version of the recording, as well as bonus video clips for the singles �Everything�s On T.V.� and �I�m In The Band.� An MP3 of the latter is currently available for download at their U.S. label�s website, www.liquorandpokermusic.com.

In other Hellacopters news, the band has once again been nominated for a Swedish Grammy award, this time for Best Rock Group of the Year. They�ll compete against Kent, The Cardigans, The Soundtrack To Our Lives and The Ark. The Swedish Grammy ceremony will take place in Stockholm, also on Feb. 7.

In conjunction with the kick-off of this year�s Taste of Chaos Tour, WARCON Enterprises has announced a January 24th release date for The Best of the Taste of Chaos, a two-disc compilation that features an onslaught of music from the biggest and best bands in the punk/metal scene.

Being hailed as the most definitive post-hardcore collection to ever be assembled, The Best of the Taste of Chaos, includes 36 songs, comprising unreleased tracks, rare outtakes and special songs, from such heavy hitters as Story of the Year, The Deftones, The Used, Killswitch Engage and more.

The perfect warm-up for this year�s winter tour, which kicks off February 16th with The Deftones, As I Lay Dying, Atreyu, Thrice, Story of the Year and other TOC favorites, the compilation is a �must-have� for any true post-hardcore fan.

For fans in the Chicago area, Mest will be doing a special performance on October 17th at the Vic Theatre. Aside from watching the band perform, fans will be able to purchase the album one day early and get it autographed. Tickets are $11 and are available via Ticketmaster. Other week of release happenings- Mest will be doing an in-store performance and signing at Looney Tunes on Long Island on Wednesday October 19th at 7pm and another at Vintage Vinyl in New Jersey on Saturday, October 22nd at 2pm. Philly punk rockers Valencia have announced that the release date for their upcoming debut album This Could Be A Possibility has been pushed back to October 25.

After playing at the sold out Warped Tour in Camden, NJ earlier this month Valencia played a free show at the Pontiac Grille in Philadelphia where they filmed a live video for "The Space Between." The band played a full set after the filming the video to the lucky fans who were there!
