After a storming performance at this year's sold out Beautiful Days Festival, The Levellers are pleased to announce the release of a very special live album on 9^th November 2009 and the dates for their UK Winter tour. The album will be available from all major download stores.

The band have already drawn comparison to Tom Waits, Frank Zappa and Zeppelin, as well as more recent examples Gomez, Mumford & Sons and The Raconteurs, but it�s on the strength of the songwriting throughout this debut that the deal is ultimately sealed, and with an average age of only 21, the band are apparently in possession of a musical wisdom well beyond their years.

On September 22, the label released a box set containing a 31-track double LP, a 90-minute documentary on the history and importance of Youth Brigade and the BYO label, and a full-color, hardcover book containing photos and essays.

On the 'Let Them Know' release, punk icons such as Leatherface, Ch3, 7 Seconds, Subhumans, NoFX, Bouncing Souls, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, Anti-Flag and many others cover songs from the extensive BYO Records catalog. Each band appearing on the album chose their favorite song from the catalog; all were recorded for 'Let Them Know' over the past two years.

The full-length documentary in the 'Let Them Know' box set was directed by Jeff Alulis ('Do You Remember? 15 Years of the Bouncing Souls,' 'NOFX Backstage Passport').

Babelgum Launches Art Video Competition Judged By Isabella Rossellini

Babelgum, the independent web and mobile video content platform, continues its talent-scouting mission with the launch of the Babelgum Metropolis Art Prize, which seeks out the world's best and edgiest artists. The competition is an open call to all artists active in any visual medium to submit videos of their works. Entries will be evaluated by a jury of curators chaired by iconic art-house actress and video artist Isabella Rossellini, in addition to being voted upon by the Babelgum audience. Nine winners will have their videos broadcast on jumbo monitors in New York City's Times Square; three will also win cash prizes worth a total of US $30,000.

Isabella Rossellini shared her enthusiasm about the competition: "We want to be inspired, challenged, excited, awed, moved, intrigued and weirded-out. Babelgum's Metropolis channel explores and celebrates the city and the urban environment in all its gritty, strange and wonderful permutations. We're looking for art that reflects this spirit."

Laurence Billiet, publisher of Babelgum's Metropolis channel, commented: "Babelgum is a singular hub for creativity. The prize exemplifies this unique sensibility and will further raise awareness of Metropolis, Babelgum's channel dedicated to art, design, architecture and urban culture."

Entries for the inaugural Babelgum Metropolis Art Prize will be accepted September 1--October 18, 2009 at Home page | Babelgum. Jurors and audiences will vote on the videos from November 2 through December 6, 2009. In a special winner's exhibition on December 17, 2009, Babelgum will show nine videos on Times Square, turning New York City's most spectacular space into an art installation site.

The Babelgum Metropolis Art Prize consists of the following awards:

The Metropolis Art Grand Prize: The winner will receive US $20,000, a dedicated artist channel on Babelgum Metropolis and will have his/her video screened on Times Square monitors.

The Best Street Art Video: The winner will receive US $5,000 and have his/her video screened on Times Square monitors. The Best Street Art Video will be selected by juror Cedar Lewisohn, curator of the 2008 Street Art exhibition at the Tate Modern gallery in London.

FREELAND 'ART REMIX' COMPETITION

With his June release of Cope� blasting onto the musical charts, and a national tour stateside to boot, Freeland continues the momentum with a forthcoming remix release of this acclaimed full-length, offering you the opportunity to remix the album artwork.

To enter, simply download the album artwork in layer files Here, and create a new design for the cover of his upcoming remix CD.

To submit your design, upload to Flickr and tag with the words 'FreelandRemixArtwork.' Entries will be showcased on Freeland's website, and the band will choose their favorite design as the front cover of this exciting remix release.

You will receive full credit for your design, as well as given a limited deluxe edition of the album!

The deadline for entry is September 10, 2009.

Brooklyn Electronic Music Fest Announces Remix Contest for Flashmen

The Second Annual Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival (BEMF), an all-day event for emerging and established dance artists celebrating the vibrant music scene found in the city of New York, today announced their partnership with Ableton, a modern software developer designed to inspire creative people, to host a remix competition for Brooklyn-based disco dance outfit, Flashmen.

The remix contest will feature Flashmen�s latest track The Night Rolls On and begins today. One winner will be handpicked by Flashmen and Ableton and receive an Ableton prize pack along with placement on the As The Night Rolls On single, released in October by Crushed Records on Beatport, iTunes, etc. The winner will be announced at the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival where their track will be played live and they will receive a pair of VIP badges.
