Hey Everybody-

We are very excited to announce that we will be heading into the studio with Dave Fridmann at the beginning of October to start on our new album. His work with the Flaming Lips, Weezer, Mogwai and Sleater Kinney has produced some of the finest albums of the last ten years. Dave is one of the few modern producers really pushing the medium and he's one of the nicest guys in the business. We started preproduction on the sixteen songs we've written. In the short amount of time we've been working with Dave he's already pushing us to new musical and emotional ground.

This week marks a very special event for me and the whole Thursday family. The label that I run with some of my best friends, Astromagnetics, is releasing The Blackout Pact's debut record, "Hello Sailor" this week. I had the good fortune to meet this band while they were living on their friends' floors in Brooklyn, NY. The first time I saw them, they reminded me why I play music. Their passion and fire was unstoppable. They plugged in and ripped into the first song and never looked back. I have only had a handful of experiences like that: seeing U2 as a young boy, watching Hot Water Music bleed all over their guitars in a VFW hall, and witnessing Fugazi turn one of NY's biggest club's into a community of social activists in the span of two hours. I feel so lucky to announce that this is the first record that I've produced since My Chemical Romance's debut. Please check them out. I know you will grow to love them as much as I do (and when you get a chance to see them, don't miss out).

Also, our good friend's at We Put Out Records have released their first new record and we're psyched for them!! They put out the new Stretch Arm Strong record, which is in stores now. Stretch Arm Strong and Thursday have been buddies forever and we're so happy that they're working with WPO. Check It Out!

The eclectic array of artists spans all music genres including; Hip Hop/Soul, Rock and Electronic. Leading off are New York indie-pop darlings, Robbers on High Street along side fellow nominees The Bravery. In the electronic category, a wide array of styles and sounds are represented – from the glitchy sampling of Knifehandchop to the electro-pop sounds of Xavier. Hip Hop/Soul is represented by New York MC, Kenn Starr, Busdriver, the sounds of Sa-Ra Creative Partners and super-producer turned MC, The Alchemist.

We envision Diesel-U-Music as a meaningful opportunity to provide exposure to deserving artists that are under the radar of mainstream radio and MTV. The Diesel-U-Music board consists of industry heads from Vice Recordings, Caroline Distribution, The Metro (Chicago), MTV News, PitchforkMedia.com, InSound.com, FluxBlog.com, Rolling Stone, Q101 in Chicago, Power 106 in LA, etc; as well as artists ranging from Saul Williams to 9th Wonder to Talib Kweli.

The nominations are broken into three categories: Hip-Hop/Soul, Rock and Electronic and there will be 2 rounds of nominations. At the end of the five-month program, one winner will be chosen.

The Hard Core Troubadours Tour, in its 3rd season, has become one of the most successful DIY tours with no label support.

Independent singer-songwriters tour the eastern seaboard and the Midwest. The tour will hit 10 US cities starting in September 2005. The Hard Core Troubadours book their own shows, handle their own publicity and hook up a network of like-minded artists interested in DIY music. Although they have distinctive styles and influences, they come together for one goal -- to hit the asphalt. The Hard Core Troubadours was a collective started by Mike Borgia and Ben Ratliff with the goal of enabling independent and proactive songwriters and musicians to book their own shows, handle their own publicity and hit the road.

Tentative fall tour route will go to the following states: NY, MA, PA, VA, NC, TN, IN, KY, IL and OH. There are two slots reserved for Sonicbids members.

All genres accepted. Selected artist(s) must have a CD to sell on the tour.

Please note: Lodging is the responsibility of the artist. There are some travel expenses covered, possibly all, but no guarantees.
