The Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby. It's an eye-opening, reality-expanding read.

Which recent bands do you really love and which recent bands grind your gears?
Circa Survive. They truly represent everything that's great in music. They are one of the few acts I've seen lately doing it for all the right reasons. The Jonas Brothers really grind my gears.
Where are you at the moment?
L.A. Getting ready to play The Viper Room.
What's the best or most bizarre memory you have of being in the band?
First realizing we didn't need day jobs anymore.
You have to get from point A to point B. You don't know if you can get there. What would you do?
I'd go to point C and work my way back.
Do songs just come to you? Do you know certain environments will produce certain songs?
The best songs just come to us. We try all different ways of writing, from acoustic guitar to full band, and that notion of experimenting with different instrumentation influences the vibe of songs more than the environment. We try and write in as many different places and circumstances as possible.
Have politics ever affected this band? How?
Of course. We are all U.S. citizens. That's how.
Are you actually under any pressure to shift units?
We are fully pressurized unit shifters. No man. Our album isn't even out yet. All we are concerned with is writing music that moves us, and playing it for as many people as will listen.
Who would be on your dream tour package?
Circa Survive, The Cambiata, Thursday... so many more.
Are you hoping to play in the UK at some point? What would you most look forward to about your trip?
Of course! The opportunity to travel abroad was a big factor in signing to Mercury, and we cannot wait to go overseas. What would we most look forward to? Ummm....playing shows in Europe!
