This is an interview Oh No Not Stereo did for me via email about a month ago! It's an interesting read and it's about their UK tour that has just past! Q: First off, what a unique name! How did that come about? A: I'm deaf out of my right ear after a serious ATV accident in 1993 so I live life in mono. It's quite challenging, of course, but at this point it's all I know and have. Also, when Myk and I started the band together in 2003 we were a duo, and many people had a hard time grasping the concept of a live two-piece- So we make the claim that our band name has double meaning. Q: During your five year history, what would you say is your biggest achievement so far? A: Our biggest achievement I would say is our ability to exist as an independent band amongst the crumbling music industry. So many people have worked with us on good faith, and belief in our band, it's truly incredible that we've done 3 studio records and an assload of touring with no label assistance. We've shared the stage with some of our favorite bands, recorded with some of our favorite producers and would STILL say our success up to date, lies in our independent history. Q: How do you feel about your upcoming UK tour with Bayside? A: We are very stoked to be hitting the road with Bayside. We just saw them for our first time at the Troubadour [in LA] last weekend and they had a sold out crowd that was singing along to every word... those guys are really great and I can tell we're gonna have a hell of a time together. We're all sharing the same bus too so I have a feeling we're all gonna get to know each other really well. Q: Have you ever played in the UK before? If not, how do you hope it will go? A: We've been to the UK but not as a band! We obviously hope for the best and expect the worst- but come on!?!? These venues are gonna sell out and we have a chance to play for a whole lot of new people in a different country. This just screams awesome to me, I know it'll go well. Q: What can everyone expect from you guys when you hit the stage? A: We always have a lot of fun playing live, and it really shows. Our energy level matches the songs, and it's hard not to catch onto the fun party theme of our set. We take a lot of pride in meeting new people too, so expect some incentives to get you to come talk to us Q: You've got a solid fanbase in the US. Are you hoping that the people in the UK echo this and get behind you guys and support you? A: Of course we hope that we are well accepted in the UK but there's only one way to find out!! If there's any apprehension from the fans, then count on us coming back again and again until everyone knows every single word to our songs. Q: Have you played with Bayside before? If not, how did this tour come about? Were you guys friends before? A: We got this opportunity to tour with Bayside from their manager. It turned out that we were both looking for a band to tour with in the UK who'd share transportation, gear and touring crew... so it worked out quite kickass for everyone. Q: If you could say something to the people that coming to the tour dates in the UK, what would it be? A: We hope you'll listen to some songs from our upcoming record and come early to see us play! We PROMISE you won't regret it, and we'll surely send you home with enough goodies to make your friends jealous that you saw us before they did Oh, and we like to party so lace up them party boots.(www. myspace. com/ohnonotstereo) Q: This is your chance to say whatever you want! A: If you like Bayside then you're gonna love our band. We hope to team up with them for future tours and see what opportunities we can stir up together. Please check us out online and let us know what you think of our music!! We hope to see you in December. Cheers!
