Rage Against the Machine defined their own genre. No band before them or since have ever managed to successfully implement heavy riff rock with angry, political statements rapped with such definition. It's hard not to like Rage Against the Machine. I will go as far...

I would probably suggest you keep up to date with our news and check out some of their work. There is bound to be some bands there that you will love. Glad to see your back on the wagon of new music, hopefully Altsounds will inspire you to stay there .

Doesn't shortcuts take the fun out of it anyway? My favourite part of it is the self discovery, but maybe that's just me?

It's just that I've been out of it for so long, I don't know where to start!! When your g/f only listens to the radio and wants nothing to do with anything remotely underground (how can anyone stand listening to Beyoncé, Celine Dion and even Kid Rock is beyond me), then throw in toddlers that only want to hear kid music, you get a 31 year old with no music identity other than what was part of him in his teens and early twenties!!!

Most bands I used to listened to made big mistakes or went mainstream (think Audioslave, Limp Bizkit and Red Hot Chili Peppers, seriously guys, what were you thinking???) so now I don't want to go back to them other than their early stuff. So I guess One Day as a Lion made me realize there is hope out these, now it's just a question of finding sounds that get me excited about music again...

Montreal is my favourite city that I have yet to visit. The music that your city produces is excellent, and there is lots of it. It's probably second only to New York......but yeah it's cold.....and you could do with speaking French......but I bet the food is good with the French connection.

I live in Manchester by the way.

Good luck with the music search, I have way too much to suggest, so I wil say just this.......it's right under your nose.
