Acoustic versions of "Hey Heather" and "Stay Pretty"
FAREWELL are a band that is on a mission to put the fun back into rock. Ascending from a small town saturated in metal and hardcore, the southern-based sextet have carved their own niche with their unique blend of lighthearted power-pop. Their debut album, Isn't This Supposed to Be Fun!? gave the musical masses something to smile about!
The North Carolina natives met while living in Greensboro and were immediately bonded by their shared love of music and distaste for school and employment. In an effort to escape sheer boredom, they started playing music together and in turn created Farewell in 2004. Drawing on a wide range of influences (Beach Boys to Greenday), b have crafted a tight, upbeat pop-punk sound which is a far cry from the scene that dominated their town [Metal].
"Overall, NC is dominated by hardcore and metal bands, so keeping our heads above water in a pop/punk band has proven difficult," asserts Marshall. "Luckily for us, we love it and can't imagine investing our time and energy towards anything else. Plus, we have the support of some of the most dedicated fans and best friends in the world, which has made the ride a little less bumpy." Farewell, determined not to be a flash in the pan, have spent several years honing their skills by touring relentlessly across the world.
"We have been busting our butts for a few years now; playing tons of shows and spreading or name, so it's a relief to see that our hard work has been noticed," says Davis.

In November 2008, Farewell were chosen as main support for the massive You Me At Six tour in support of the YMAS debut album "Take Off Your Colours". While in Cardiff, the Farewell lads got in their tour bus and headed to the Altsounds.com HQ where they gave us an exclusive acoustic set consisting of two awesome tracks "Hey Heather" and "Stay Pretty". "Hey Heather" has never been performed acoustically by the guys so it is an absolute Altsounds.com exclusive. After wowing us with their performance skills the guys all grouped into our green room as we gave them a right good grilling about all things Farewell.
NOTE: The player also contains Farewell songs off their records after the two acoustic tracks.
All songs were recorded live and were Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Chris Maguire (www.helloiamchris.com). If this Altsounds Session is anything to go by, then the future looks bright for Farewell.
This audio is part of what will eventually become an Altsounds.com Sessions Video feature which includes a video interview with the Farewell guys. Once this is complete, the video will be posted here. Keep your eyes and ears peeled.
