So, I am loving the new banners on the top of the site! These banners highlight some of the best material currently on
Altsounds, and they look bad ass. We want to make one of these banners for something YOU have written! I am sure all of you know by now that we're always looking for new contributors to the site and we want you to know it doesn't matter where you're from, how old you are or what you do for a living. If you're passionate about music and have something to say about it, you could write for us. This newsletter is being read by people all across the globe and the website is visited by even more. We want your country's music to get the coverage it deserves. From your overrated one hit wonders to your hidden underground gems, we want it all. We want the groups that are so bad they're funny, and artists with the kind of depth that requires thoughtful consideration and a level of technical knowledge and history to appreciate. Music is universal, and so is
Altsounds. So what do you think the rest of us are missing?

We're currently looking to recruit more of the following:

You like good music yes? Well Altsounds sorts the men from the boys. Here are the best releases to get your ears all moist. San Francisco has long been known as a major contributor to indy freak outs, and Battlehooch more than does the city proud. Incredible! Really amazing. "Piecechow", the debut album from Battlehooch, is a work of art, with blasting power-pop saxophones, and heavenly vocal harmonies.

Brain Glaze & The Night Shift release another tasty contribution to American psychedelia with "Green Living". At times friendly, other times verging on the morose- this is an album of rock, drama, and soul......

If Heaven has a discothèque, they're bumping Twisted Tongue up there!
Soulful and as funky as ten George Clinton's, the debut album from Twisted Tongue rocked my booty till it couldn't rock no more. Mark Dalton and Dave Jay fling funk styling's all over your walls right from the first track to the last. .....

An advisory “do not listen” comes attached to these releases. Altsounds is not afraid to speak it’s mind.
The Irish music scene is a complete mystery to myself and probably 99% of the people reading this review right now.
(being very careful not to offend anyone here) The only musical shipment that spring to mind are U2, yep Bono and his strange concept on spectacle apparel. The Blizzards however make light work of the Indie Irish scene with nominations and wins for Oxygen Best Irish Live Performance's.

Echobelly [Live] @ MoHo Live, Manchester Was this a just lovely moment or an Echobelly resurgence? Is it ever a good idea to revisit your idols and heroes? Not that I was ever an obsessive Echobelly fan, but they sure had something back in the Britpop day. Tonight at MoHo, it being an acoustic set and all, I was expecting something like a folk club night, so was somewhat surprised that there were going to be four support bands....

St Vincent [Live] @ Night and Day Cafe, Manchester I've liked Annie Clark, aka St Vincent, ever since seeing her supporting Sufjan Stevens a year or two back. Actually, doing the support slot
and playing in Sufjan's touring band. On her CDs, maybe the truth is more 'admired' than 'loved'. Although there is definite progression from one to the other, her newest recorded offering 'Actor' shares a lot with first album 'Marry Me'....

Speaking with the bestest artists of today about their goings on and private matters you all want to know about.
STEVE WINWOOD "Jimi broke his strings on the first take and restrung his own guitar" Because I am such a big fan of all of Steve's musical incarcerations, I was really happy when he agreed to be put under the
Altsounds microscope.
Starting at age 15 with the Spencer Davis Group,
Steve Winwood has contributed some of the rock's most eclectic and memorable performances with both his solo albums and iconic bands as diverse as Traffic and Blind Faith. ...
AYAH MARAR "if I hadn't worked for it, none of it would make sense" Whether you know it or not, your ears have most likely already been graced by the unique voice of Ayah Marar. Born in Jordan and moving to London when she was 18, Ayah recorded her first pop song ‘Let me Know’ with Calvin Harris in 2004. ......
You can be the first to say “Yeah I have heard of them, they were on Altsounds introducing".
Katrina -- it’s a name freighted with some incredibly heavy history. The 2005 hurricane that decimated one of America’s proudest cities was the largest natural disaster in the history of the United States. And New Orleans hasn’t been the same since. Hoping to do their part in the ongoing process to revitalize the city .....
