Pearl Jam are not a fashionable band to like, let alone love. In fact, one of my closest friends counts Pearl Jam amongst his favourite bands and he gets nothing but stick for it from all sides. Dig a little deeper and you'll find the roots of a classic rock band firmly in place. The hit debut, the experimental period, the late period comeback and the fervent, worldwide live following pay testament to a band who have weathered .....

The Stone Roses mean many different things to many people. They were a band for a generation much as others that have gone before. They were THE band of their time and had an impact in the lives of those who came into contact with them. I was not of the Stone Roses generation but I am part of the next generation whose own generational heroes would not have reaped the benefits of their musical landscape if The Stone Roses hadn't sowed the seeds ....

Alternating between heady mathcore, sweeping symphonic metal, and a groove flexible metalcore, The Ocean offer razor-filled ear-candy with the album "Fluxion". A commune like collective of musicians living out of a World War II aluminium factory in Berlin, The Ocean has been creating beautifully complex music since 2001. "Fluxion" sails through influence and style as The Ocean once again...

'Mean Everything to Nothing' embraces singer Andy Hull's (Right Away, Great Captain!) voice to the max, with perfectly guided guitar and bass riffs to exemplify both a soft rhythm throughout the 11-song album, yet also some incredible breaks..

That's what haters of the gothic movement could probably say over the past few years as he single handily made HIM and bands of a similar ilk so popular in recent years via cameos in his TV shows and his cameos in the band's videos. A perfect amalgamation of mutual promotion, if you will. Why did he do it? Because Bam Margera felt truly touched by the music.

The Woodstock Experience is a genius idea. Combining an artist's studio album and their Woodstock performance, along with a poster in a nice little box set makes for one sweet package. There are five of these sets in total (Santana, Johnny Winter, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, and Jefferson Airplane)

The voice here is northern tinged, somewhere on the indie bluesy side of the Folk Festival. The sound that surrounds that voice contains guitars, brass, and pretty simple drums. It was no apparition, they really did have a suitcase instead of a bass drum. In some moments the brass added an oompah feel, redolent of the Sally Army or even something you might hear in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Beth Jeans Houghton's voice though came through clear. The words were prosaic, telling of curry, breakdowns and AA men. Ralph McTell, but in girly form, with a leotard and a much much better voice.

Bursting the ears with an assault that is made all the more impressive when you consider it's just Welchez and guitarist Charles Rowland backed by processed beats that stand-up surprisingly well with Rowland's screeching guitar and effects library. Rowlands is very much the star here even if Welchez looks and acts the part he's Marr to Welchez's Morrissey.

Man these guys look fried, the hippy vibe being taken to quite some extreme. Pants frayed to within an inch of their lives, Tommy with one boot undone and the other completely worn through the toes. Linda in a smock and leggings and playing the drums with bare feet on the pedals. The necessary entourage were in similar garb, headbands, embroidery, almost the polar opposite of glamour.
