Jeez this guy looks solid. Majestic makes wannabe MC's cream in their pants and not just for his looks. The guy can bust a tune with the busting beat to match. 'In The VIP', is his debut and sure enough these tunes will get him VIP access anywhere. Lyrically and style wise he is reminiscent of Rolex wearing Wiley having a beer with The big Lethal B. 'In The VIP' sets to be a club stomper setting the bar high for MC's of 2009 hitting the circuit. Look out for this guy, and listen out for some mega releases.

Biography:
Majestic started out as an MC plying his trade in the nightclubs of North London from the age of fifteen. He quickly managed to break onto the pirate radio stations that were playing UK Garage and early grime in 2002. It was during this time that Majestic (real name Kevin Christie) withdrew from the normal social life of a fifteen year old with his friends to concentrate on building up his profile amongst other Garage producers and MCs. Bookings soon followed at clubs such as Scala in Kings Cross and Eros in Enfield, and Majestic quickly realised the challenges that lay ahead for a white MC on the UK Garage circuit. Majestic’s love affair with music began at the age of twelve as he found that it was a perfect escape from the pressures of beginning at secondary school. Musically, the young Majestic was inspired by acts as diverse as Busta Rhymes, Muse, Kula Shaker, Rage Against The Machine, 2Pac, System of a Down and Masters Of Work. It was his parents’ musical influences, however, of Reggae and Rock from his father’s side and Dance and Pop from his mothers side, that were the foundation which would lead Majestic to make the hybrid between Hip Hop and Electro that is his unique sound today.
At this early stage Majestic began to learn DJing techniques with basic Soundlab decks, as well as learning the guitar and piano. He continued all three crafts for the following years, which led him to become a producer of garage music. Majestic found himself to be very much the outsider on the garage scene, mainly down to his deeper lyrical content, which stood out from the stereotypical rhymes other MCs would champion. At gigs he was constantly faced with older, more experienced MCs trying to block and stifle his performances and pushing him to the sidelines as they worked the crowds to their own agenda. Happening on a regular basis, it wouldn’t have been uncommon for someone to cut their losses, however for Majestic, it only served to spur him on. From these experiences Majestic began to feel like the underdog whenever he stepped on stage with the belief he always had to win over his crowd.
The turning point came at the age of seventeen. Having spent the previous couple of years performing at under eighteen events, Majestic found himself being the headline MC in the main room of a Pure Old Skool Garage club night alongside DJ Luck. The main MC had pulled out last minute and Majestic was handed the mic with a crowd ready for an MC ready to take the evening to the next level. The DJ slowed down the tune he was playing to 33 1/3 and Majestic started delivering his set over a Hip Hop tempo. When the DJ then kicked the tune back into full speed, the crowd went crazy with Majestic riding over the new beats, and he knew he had the crowd in the palm of his hand. After this night the bookings came flying in and luminary MCs such as CKP and Kie really began to bring this emerging talent to the forefront of future shows.
In 2007, Majestic started posting mixtapes on online forums, such as the Uptown forum, where he would record his rhymes over Electro House beats for which he had recently discovered as an alternative to the UK Garage scene. Within days of these posts he had interest from international promoters in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Russia. He was now performing in front of crowds as big as five thousand alongside DJs such as Laidback Luke, Bart B Moore, Will Bailey and The Wideboys. This encounter with The Wideboys in Amsterdam turned out to be a meeting of two minds; the discovery of a common musical direction fusing the tried and tested production skills of The Wideboys with the lyrical flow and social content of Majestic’s rhymes.
Majestic’s objective for making music was to allow his thoughts on society to be put onto paper and then produced into pieces of art. Majestic always knew that he was destined for a career in music, and through the process of refining his rhymes, he was inspired to make music for people to enjoy as much as he had when he was younger. From his early teens, he has never looked back with constant bookings and regularly featuring on other people’s records. In 2008 Majestic had four cuts on the Ministry of Sound compilation ‘Addicted To Bass’ that went on to sell over a hundred thousand copies. This early career highlight served as a springboard for Majestic to achieve even bigger things. He has now found a home for his music at Big Life Records, a renowned label that was responsible for breaking Hip Hop legends such as De La Soul, Naughty By Nature and Digital Underground, as well as artists such as Coldcut and Lisa Stansfield.
In early 2009, Majestic and The Wideboys finished ‘In The VIP’ which took a satirical look at the VIP culture that exists on the London club scene. Following this, other songs such as ‘Stand Together’ and ‘Running Up That Hill’ combined Majestic’s social message with standout pop production from The Wideboys. No longer on the sidelines, Majestic is ready to overcome any challenges that may face him, and get his music, and his message, to the masses.
Latest Press: After years honing his craft as an MC and becoming one of the brightest sparks on the UK Garage circuit, Majestic is set for his first release ‘In The VIP’ on October 7th 2009 through Biglife Records. Following in the footsteps of mammoth tunes such as ‘Wearing my Rolex ’ ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes’ and ’African Warrior’ comes the most anthemic club banger of the summer months in the form of ‘In The VIP’. Produced by the Wideboys, this up-tempo Electro House rommpa stompa hits you with hyperactive synths, an irrepressible bass line and an infectious vocal hook that stays in your head all night and beyond. Majestic started his musical journey back in 1999 when he fell in love with the UK Garage scene. This near obsession led him to craft and tweak his mic skills on a daily basis while performing across various pirate stations over the years, garnering attention from and collaborating with UK greats such as DJ EZ, Sticky, Matt Jam Lamont and Logan Sama. A chance studio meeting with The Wideboys, where the guys “just clicked”, led to them putting together a garage classics compilation album which went on to sell 50,000 copies and sailed straight into number 3 in the national compilation charts. Off the back of that success the boys went back into the studio and came up with ‘In The VIP’ which is currently tearing up the club circuit and has been championed from DJs as diverse as Ras Kwame and Kissy Sellout through to Mista Jam, Nihal and Sinden. Following on from the extensive buzz that has built up on ‘In The VIP’ over the summer and with a video soon to follow, Big Life Records are delighted to launch Majestic’s first foray into the mainstream, a place he plans to occupy for a long time to come.
