Fanfarlo's identity might well be a stolen one but it obviously suits them and regardless of the instrumentation, the arrangements or the general atmosphere created by the album these stand out as 10 glorious pop songs that will no doubt grow more irresistible with age. - Altsounds.com | August 2009
"Chutzpah!" as a whole album grows on you by the second listen through which is a damn good sign when it comes to Ginger’s often eccentric work. "Chutzpah!" is a very good album. It’s contemporary enough to sell units yet still showcases Ginger’s song writing skills and how he can turn most songs into long lasting punk rock masterpieces. - Altsounds.com | September 2009
This is sunbathing music at its finest, something you would hear on a "Chilled Ibiza" or "Chill Anthems" compilation album. Refreshing, inspiring and bloody cool. Zero 7, Moorcheba, Portishead, Boards Of Canada fans will be wetting themselves over A.M. Architect. Ambient electronica is simply the dogs balls when it is produced at this level. - Altsounds.com | March 2009
It's the little things that make the album really, whether it be the sly word play, the tightly wound guitars, the complex and engaging rhythm section or the genuine air of sexual menace that permeates almost every song, it's a true feast for the ears. - Altsounds.com | September 2009
There is a certain presence around Engineers that carries them over into one of the most unique artists releasing music at this moment in time. They manage to create this warm textured layer of sound that is simply beautiful. This alongside a haunting, yet uplifting vocal contribution makes Engineers a pioneer in adventurous dream pop music. - Altsounds.com | July 2009
I felt with "Beggars" that I had re-kindled a reconnection with a band that I had forgotten about and maybe sometimes you need to step away for a while to rediscover how good a band were or have now become. - Altsounds.com | September 2009
Sometimes an album comes along that knocks you sideways; an album that hits your heart and your head and redefines everything that’s gone before. An album that’s so personal you want to keep it for yourself but so sweet you have no choice but to share it with others. Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, known simply as Gurrumul, is very simply a musical genius. - Altsounds.com | September 2009
It uses simple ingredients to create something honest and memorable. There is no pretention, no agenda other than to communicate thoughts or feelings through music. From the cheering tones of one of the world’s most underrated instruments, the banjo, to the warming monk choir-like vocals that permeate throughout, Family is the sound of pure contentment and is almost impossible not to fall in love with. - Altsounds.com | September 5th 2009
Each song blends perfectly into the next in a gorgeous journey of garage rock, lo fi punk and soft crescendo building melancholy rich ambiance. To simply class this band as 'goth' is pretty ignorant in my opinion, there is just so much intense musicianship hidden underneath the muted production and are a million other great musical descriptions than the one dimensional 'goth' they are usually tarnished with. - Altsounds.com | May 2009
“First Love” is one of the finest debuts for many, many years. It is without doubt, a magnificent achievement on every level and the quality on display here, would surely give Lady Ga-Ga and her knob-twiddling chums pause for thought, whilst prompting them to consider their long term futures before sobbing “I give up!! We are not worthy.” - Altsounds.com | December 2009
The Joy Formidable must be heard and must be heard by all; hell, they are giving it to you for free at least have the decency to listen and become enamoured. It's not too much to ask. - Altsounds.com | February 2009
Fifteen or so years on from their original album what does their newest release hold? Surely the ever aging Prodigy have to be losing some of their cool? Far from it, they are fucking cooler than ever and are still showing others how electronic punk music should really be done. - Altsounds.com | March 2009
The apparent simplicity masks a more complex, seductive and in some ways timeless sound. For some the tight adherence to this dark soundscaping and the continual glacial detachment may be too wearying and might induce a catatonic trance. - Altsounds.com | October 2009
Many of their critics have rather unfairly labelled the band an unnecessary accompaniment to Emily Haines’ undoubtedly beautiful vocals; an unwelcome distraction from what her voice alone offers. In truth the band have always offered much in their own right, not least to the excellent songwriting on display on Live it Out. - Altsounds.com - May 2009
The bands name almost gives the game away really with it's insinuation of dangerous, stormy weather neatly summing up the bands ethos. This is distorted delta blues fed through black tar and is is precisely what Jack White was put on this earth to do. - Altsounds.com | July 2009
