First up this week, Neil Young performing "The Needle and Damage Done" on Johnny Cash's TV show back in the 70's. Judging by the quality of the performance I'd venture it was a pretty awesome show, though I haven't been able to find much else from it. This version sounds very similar to the one that appears on Young's "Harvest" album though I'm not sure if it is. If there are any die-hard Neil Young fans out there that can confirm or deny this for me then leave a message in the comments.
Most of the videos I post in this feature are from relatively old artists so to redress the balance I thought I'd post one from the garage rock revival a few years back. Here's the Vines performing "Get Free" and The Hives performing "Main Offender" in a battle of the bands on the MTV VMA's from 2002. The Hives win.
Last up, another newish clip, this time from At The Drive-In. At The Drive In must have been very popular in Australia because most of the videos out there of them come from Australian TV. Anyway, here's an awesome version of "198d" from the Vaya EP.
