Are you excited about Reading & Leeds’ line up but thinking about going to V Festival just for The Stone Roses? Well, I’ve got the perfect solution for you: Hultsfred Festival, in Sweden.
The Cure and The Stone Roses are the main acts, but there are so many big names that Kasabian does not appear until the fourth row on the poster. Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds will be playing at the main stage, and let’s not rule out the possibility of a duet with Slash who will also perform on the bill. There is a special slot for Sweden’s own Cardigans with their “Gran Turismo” show, and Garbage will continue the 90s revival also showcasing “Not Your Kind of People” (their first album in 7 years!). The XX and Justice will be filling your dance needs (Marina & The Diamonds might be attempting to do it as well, although I doubt that she will succeed) and for all of the indie rock lovers out there we have Miles Kane, The Kooks, The Vaccines, Bombay Bicycle Club, Spector, S.C.U.M, Blood Red Shoes and even Noah And The Whale will be making an appearance!
If you’re still trying to get some of the mud off from your clothes after last year’s (rainy) festival season, and you would now rather spend a weekend with your friends between gorgeous sceneries and lakes, not worrying about flooded tents or carrying Wellies in your backpack, you will be able to get (almost) guaranteed sunshine and good vibrations from this Swedish music-gem.
Alright, you’re already hooked with the line up and the location but now the question is: how do you get there?
The city of Hultsfred is right at the south east of Sweden, you can fly either to Gothenburg or Stockholm and take a train or the festival bus straight to the field where you can set up your tent for the whole weekend. Alternatively if camping is not what you have in mind, you can book the Hultsfred Charter Train which is a mobile condominium that will take you from Stockholm to the festival, you then live on the train until Sunday morning when the vehicle takes you back to Stockholm. Pretty cool huh? You can see all the details of the different train-accommodations options here: Charter Train - Hultsfredsfestivalen 2012.
The price of the ticket for the 3 days of the festival is around 150-170 British pounds, (will vary depending your special camping facility of choice, such as quiet spots or caravan-friendly spaces) and you can get them here: www.eventim.co.uk.
Here you can find the amazing line up announced so far and we should be expecting the number of acts to climb up to almost a hundred! You can be ahead of every line-up update by following their twitter account @Hultsfred2012 or on Facebook at /Hultsfredsfestivalen.
Roll on June!!
