On a daily basis, we're constantly inundated with news. News about political affairs, news about what's happening in the sporting world, entertainment news that's now more like gossip as opposed to actual news, and news about family, friends, and the cat down the road. Basically, information has never been easily attainable than it is today. In some way, this is fantastic, enabling us to constantly develop our brains, and in another way, we're bombarded with so much crap we have to wade through it to get to the good bits.

Rest In Peace, Disco

Our newest Editorial Contributor, Lauren, has put together a beautiful tribute to two of the most important disco personalities of all time. Donna Summer and Robin Gibb of The Bee Gees passed away this week after both struggling with cancer. The ‘Love to Love you baby’ and ‘Jive Talkin’ singers respectively will both be missed deeply.

EUROvision

As Greece slip of the precipice as a casualty of the failure EURO currency, more important European dilemmas need to be discussed. Eurovision is back. There is the initial disappointment to get past, that yet again the BBC have failed to convince Sir Terry Wogan to return to compare the proceedings, and have added Sara Cox and hilariously unfunny Scott Mills to the presenter carousel of leading the build up. The show started this past week as the UK prepares to support, or rather disown, the fallen legend that is Engleburt Humperdink and Ireland looks forward to shaking their heads in embarrassment at the Jedward twins.

Stayin’ Alive

Thankfully, some good news for Bobby Womack, the singer of hits such as ‘Sweet Caroline’ and ‘Lookin’ for a Love’, as he has been cleared of colon cancer. He is feeling well and can apparently sing better than ever on his new album 'The Bravest Man in the World'.

Baby come Homme

Scissor Sisters have recruited Josh Homme, much like they did with Dave Grohl a few years ago, to promote their new album. In this clever viral advert, Homme displays his sillier side and straight face when presenting jokes like “you may remember me from last night”.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, eat your heart out

If there’s anything more camp than Top of the Pops, its Top of the Pops – The Musical! That’s right, just when you thought the BBC had managed to bury the coffin that was badly mimed pop music it returns as a zombie and claws its way out of the ground to fester on the minds and creativity of young ambitious children once again. The show will tour around the UK later this year and feature some of the greatest songs of its 42-year history as well as archived video footage.
