Lower Than Atlantis have grown in popularity over the last few years, because of their hard work and dedication to touring. As one of the standout bands on the Main Stage today at Slam Dunk Festival, it's clear that they have nothing but good things to look forward to. We caught up with the band minus frontman Mike Duce after their show to ask them a few questions.

AltSounds: Hello boys! Awesome set, how has Slam Dunk been?
Ben Sansom (guitar): Awesome cheers. We love Slam Dunk!
Eddy Thrower (drums): Yeah, we love Slam Dunk, yesterday was wicked too (Leeds).

AltSounds: Last year you played the tiny Kerrang! Introducing Stage, where I was at the front and one of you crowd-surfed and kicked me in the head, cheers for that!
Eddy: That would be him! [points at Ben]
Ben: I'm sorry! That show was mental.

AltSounds: Mike looked like he hurt himself at that show! What's the worst injury you've sustained from playing live?
Dec Hart (bass): I'm quite lucky and haven't really had any...
Ben: On the headline tour in Southampton, my leg got caught and I fell into the guitar monitor, and the stage was quite high and I was one leg down! It looked quite bad but it was just a twisted ankle, so it was alright.

AltSounds: You've had a crazy busy year, what's been the highlight so far?
Dec: Recording the album for me.
Eddy: Yeah, recording the album and the headline tour at the beginning of the year. I loved the London show and signing the record deal with Island too.

AltSounds: Awesome. What bands have you managed to catch today?
Eddy: No one yet!
Ben: I want to see Canterbury!

AltSounds: You're playing some huge festivals this summer such as Rock Am Ring and Download alongside some massive acts, how does that feel?
Eddy: I went to Download as a kid, so playing second stage is pretty cool.
Ben: Yeah Download will probably be the highlight of the year, we've got a lot to announce there...

AltSounds: I want to go to Download but I'm a poor student...
Ben: Can't you just get a press pass?!

AltSounds: Who knows, I wish...
Ben: Bad times, blag it!

AltSounds: Ha! If you weren't musicians what would you be doing?
Eddy: Probably a drum technician.
Ben: I'd be the next Alan Sugar...
Dec: Washing windows maybe?

AltSounds: Washing windows and singing songs then?
Dec: Pretty much!

AltSounds: So you have a new song out called 'If The World Were To End,' but how do you think the world will end?
Dec: Obviously something to do with Jesus!
Eddy: It will be an apocalypse, with us singing that song.
Ben: To be fair, I think it will be amazing to be alive when the world ends, we'll all be going to die together so we can all go mental.

AltSounds: I guess if we're all going to die together, we have nothing to worry about!
Eddy: Yeah so we'll have a great time. I just hope it will be quick, that's the only thing I worry about.
Ben: Yeah if we all go together, it will be a massive party, it will be great!
Eddy: We'll play a free gig to everyone because you might as well go and have a laugh and a good time!
Dec: Let's do it!

AltSounds: I will definitely be at your end of the world show. There's been quite a progression from Bretton to Far Q and World Record, so what can we expect from the new album?
Ben: Shredding and backing screams...
Dec: It's a natural progression really, we had a bit more time to do this album and try some new ideas out. We went to the studio and lived there so that really helped because we didn't have any time limits for when we can record until. It was great weather too so we had some amazing barbecues.
Ben: Yep, what he said!

AltSounds: Exciting stuff! So what bands have you been listening to recently, who's been on your playlist?
Eddy: Canterbury!
Ben: Yeah Canterbury are playing right now...I don't think there's many UK Rock bands out there like them.

AltSounds: Really? I think there's been a huge surge in UK bands
Ben: Not UK bands a whole, I mean Rock, so catchy choruses and just general rock music, there's not many of them around.

AltSounds: Where would you like to see yourself in a year?
Dec: Living on a desert island with loads of money!
Ben: I think playing with bigger bands, but I mean you don't want to explode too quickly because you'll just come back down.
Eddy: A slow progression, keep your diehards you know!

AltSounds: I see you guys as genre crossing, you don't particularly fit into one genre of music, but you get respect from the Punk scene and the Hardcore scene which is awesome, but how would you describe your sound?
Eddy: Chameleon Rock...
Dec: Haha yeah, chameleon rock, that works!
Ben: Yeah, we blend in with everybody!

AltSounds: Awesome, well cheers for your time guys!
Ben: Thanks a lot!
Eddy: Thank you!
