Can't stand the endless boredom of evening television anymore? Well get your ass down to your nearest gig venue and check out some of these bands playing live in a venue near to you.

This is the weekly guide to the gigs AltSounds will be at, and some other cool bands to check out around the country.

This week kicks off the biggest music festival in Rock: Download Festival. Smashing it on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be headliners The Prodigy, Metallica and Black Sabbath. The line-up may split a few people, but Download Festival is still one of THE best festivals of the year, if not the best.
