This week’s one hit wonder Wednesday comes from Afroman.
Afroman is best known for his 2001 hit 'Because I got High' despite releasing nine albums in the years since then. 'Because I Got High' was everywhere towards the ends of 2001, reaching the top spot in the UK well as Germany Ireland New Zealand and Australia.
The single even spawned a Grammy nomination the following year for best rap solo performance but he unfortunately lost out to Nelly’s 'Hot In Here'
The track was also the most downloaded ringtone of 2002 in Britain beating off stiff competition from Robbie Williams & Nicole Kidman (remember their duet something stupid?) and Kylie Minogue’s 'Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’.

It seems Afroman may never each the dizzying heights of 'Because I Got High' again ,unless he gets high, but for now let’s all take heed of this cautionary tale.
