"Her material is current, hilarious, and ultra witty"

YouTube has exploded with a huge amount of amateurs taking to singing in front of their webcams, phones or cheap video cameras and perform covers of their favourite pop stars. You can’t avoid coming across these wannabe starlets, because if I search for a song on YouTube, I can guarantee you there will be at least a couple of ‘suggested videos’ of covers from some of the most curious people the world has ever seen.

Of course, there are some fantastic hidden treasures on there, so this self broadcaster is a brilliant platform for real talent. However, unfortunately, there’s hundreds more that inflate YouTube to the point of bursting with semi-decent, average singers who basically waste your time if you click their link.

There is a silver lining to the average cloud, which comes in the form of Miranda Sings. A YouTube sensation, where Miranda videos herself performing covers of some of the biggest tunes around in the style of the not-so-brilliant wannabes. Her material is current, hilarious, and ultra witty, although to begin with, as I didn’t know she was a popular comedienne in the US and an incredible singer to boot, I thought she was a serious member of the ‘Covers Clan’. Although she started her coverage from her modest house, she's starting to break out of the four walls of her home to broaden her videography by producing amateur music videos and recording her adventures to perform on Broadway!

Every aspect of her character is detailed, from her liaising with fans through video messages, to her Facebook page and website. She’s taken on this role and completely gone to town with it. The layers of pretence and masking is so wonderfully produced, and character traits such as her funky red lipstick that’s not put on properly to her singing that’s completely out of time, to her poses in pictures and weird and wonderful scribblings about how great she is, just makes the whole theatrical spectacle brilliant viewing.

On her YouTube channel she states:
“I'm a singer... I'm from tacoma WA and everyone tells me I have the best voice of all their friends. I'm planning to someday get discovered and become famous. My inspirations are britney spears, avril lavigne, spice girls (i know they are old school, but they have so much talent!), and of course josh groban. I hope you enjoy my singing!”
How many times have you seen that written on these recreational singer’s channels? You know the ones, the ones who take to participating in X-Factor only to be turned away at the first audition with 4 glowing x’s casting a red tint of embarrass over them.

With over 25 million video views and 80,000+ subscribers to her channel, Miranda Sings surely is a hit with the masses!

I strongly urge you to check out Miranda Sings, and let the comedy wash over you.
