On a daily basis, we're constantly inundated with news. News about political affairs, news about what's happening in the sporting world, entertainment news that's now more like gossip as opposed to actual news, and news about family, friends, and the cat down the road. Basically, information has never been easily attainable than it is today. In some way, this is fantastic, enabling us to constantly develop our brains, and in another way, we're bombarded with so much crap we have to wade through it to get to the good bits.

Working on his Public Image
Deep down, John Lydon is a very patriotic man. Despite the angry nature of The Sex Pistols they’re most popular tune was about saving the Queen, and his applauded performance on Question Time proved his stance on the country, and ultimately, that’s standing up for it. Lydon, who used to be more commonly known as Johnny Rotten, was eloquent during the political debate, even if at times he did talk over the top of people and partly advocate drug use.

A large drop in the Ocean
In the aggressive world of hip-hop and r’n’b where insulting lyrics are the norm, Frank Ocean penned quite a beautiful letter, originally aimed to be in his album sleeve notes, ultimately about him coming out, seemingly as bisexual. On his tumblr account he wrote, "I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together … And on the days we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I'd see him, and his smile. I'd hear his conversation and his silence."

Back in Black
The BET Awards last week celebrated some of the greatest music and arts with black roots. There was of course some typical celebrity hi-jinx, with Jay-Z ruining Kanye West’s acceptance speech but some heartfelt moments also with the show paying their respects to Whitney Houston. Some winners were Beyonce as Best Female Artist, and somehow people thought it was suitable for woman beating, bar-brawling Chris Brown to win Best Male. Clearly there were no woman on the voting panel.

California, knows how to party, but damn it’s expensive
One of the biggest festivals in the world, Coachella is struggling for money, so much so that next year the music and arts may be moved from Indio, California. It comes off the back of a possible referendum in the city that would add between $18 and $36 to the cost of the tickets. The president of the festival’s parent company, Paul Tollett said, “if the tax initiative gets on the ballot, we’re going to take off”.

Baby, baby, baby, no more
The world’s favourite, or most hated teen idol is growing up. Justin Bieber now has nothing holding back his freedom, or making him go to bed early, as he graduates from high school. Although he completed a large part of his education online since being taken out of school at 13 and forced to sing and dance, his principal Tim Doherty said, “We are very proud of Justin and all of the other 192 graduates of St Michael School”.
