Finally the new album by Lianne La Havas is available and we can revel in her beautiful voice, instead of just watching that Jools Holland performance of ‘Age’ over and over again. Not that I’m obsessed or anything. Little did we know that directly following on from ‘Age’ on her record Is Your Love Big Enough? is a cover of the Scott Matthews classic ‘Elusive’.
Whereas the original is a dark love song that’s all deepstripped back guitar strums that slowly builds into a track just as elusive as its title and even more ethereal, Lianne La Havas has added her pop twist on a track that was ripe for the picking. Both Brits with dreamy voices, Lianne La Havas has warped the song perfectly to fit the more quirky and childlike rhymes that her London accent offers, while still staying true to the feel of the original.
A stunning choice of track to cover for this rising star that truly shows off both her vocal ability and her ear for composition.
