This week, I decided to take a step away from my usual rock-infused choices, and go in a different direction with one of my favourite artists, Gorillaz. This band are one of the most successful music artists of this century, combining several different genres such as hip hop, electro, pop and rock to create tracks that continue to be awesome, always. The brainchild of Damon Albarn of Blur, and Jamie Hewlett, they created a 'virtual band', made up of fictional characters. Perhaps this is what makes Gorillaz so interesting and appealing. Personally, I think it's the freakin' awesome music.

We'll start off on their first album, entitled Gorillaz, and their homage to the great actor and director, 'Clint Eastwood'.

I was reading up on Gorillaz, and I came to their achievements and awards. I was blown away by the amount of awards they have been nominated for and won; it totalled around 57 nominations and 15 wins. That's pretty damn incredible.

Next up, we'll go to their second album, in a nice chronological order. I think I can safely say that this song was the sound of 2005, back in the day, featuring De La Soul, this is 'Feel Good Inc.'

Demon Days, the second album, is probably my favourite of Gorillaz's albums, and definitely the one that got me into them properly. Go listen to this album if any, it's brilliant, boasting such tracks as 'Kids With Guns', 'Dirty Harry' and 'Dare'. It's totally wick.

Finally, we'll make a stop off at their third album, Plastic Beach. Released in 2010, it featured a multitude of guest stars, such as Snoop Dogg, De La Soul and Lou Reed, and was also named Altsounds' album of the year in 2010. Not bad, eh? The best song by far off this album is the stunning 'On Melancholy Hill'.

So, now you have been reminded or even informed, of the brilliance of Gorillaz. Undoubtedly, the world's best virtual band, ever.
