1 year ago today news emerged that one of London’s brightest soul singers passed away. A dark blanket laid upon the music industry as friends, family and fans alike were shook to their core after hearing the news that the great Amy Winehouse had lost her battle with drug and alcohol abuse. It was common knowledge that she was a suffering artist, a lady who had a talent that was unfathomable, yet was hindered by her addictions. There has been a gaping hole where the starlet once dominated, proving that she still is, and always will be, and irreplaceable soul.

Amy Winehouse was a playful, charming lady, full of energy, ambition, and above all else, a gorgeous soulful voice that catapulted her into the mainstream. With 2 full albums released and a greatest hits album assembled shortly after her death, her songs with weeping trumpets, moody bass lines and emotive melodies still provide endless listening pleasures. She is immortalised.

Whilst the whole world watched her struggle, Amy wrote and performed some classics that are sure to stand the test of time. One of the first songs to be released from Lioness: Hidden Treasures was ‘Our Day Will Come’, a musical tribute to everything that was Amy. The accolade is laced with poignancy, yet it’s a testament to Amy’s strong spirit and that although she may not physically still be with us, her essence still remains and always will, in the hearts of the people she touched and blessed with her music.

'Our Day Will Come'
is full of promise and hope, something that we all seek at a time of distress, and the fact that Amy's delicious tones deliver this message seem to be gloriously fitting and offers a hint of solice. Although Amy Winehouse's death was a heartbreaking loss to music, she left a positive message behind.
Our day will come (Our day will come)
If we just wait a while
No tears for us
Think love and wear a smile

Our dreams are meant to be
Because we'll always stay
In love this way
Our day will come
Thank you for the music, Amy.
