Music is very much a huge part of this year’s Olympics. With £27million being spent on the opening ceremony, we’re sure to see an absolutely mind melting spectacle unfolding in front of our very eyes, whether you’re sat at home watching, or in the Olympic stadium itself, this evening is going to be outrageously fantastic. The world’s best athletes are already preparing for the biggest event they’re yet to take part in, and years and months of preparation has been undertaken for their chance at Olympic gold.
It’s not uncommon to hear that athletes create music playlists as a form of inspiration and to encourage them during long training sessions, from classical music to heavy metal, different athletes have an array of musical collections that provide the ultimate soundtrack to their everyday lives.
Music and sport go hand in hand, from the coverage on the TV where build ups are created with the perfect cinematography of sporting brilliance paired with anthems that provide significant importance to the feel and dramatics of the theatrics that unfold. Over the years with the development of technology and ideas, sports coverage has gone from strength to strength in creativity and imagination.

With all this pressure and expectations building up by the hour on the athletes that are set to try and become demi-gods in their sports over the next few weeks, it’s safe to say they are in need of unwinding in order to ensure that they don’t go absolutely berserk. What I’ve discovered is that they’ve taken team building and chilling out to the absolute next level. Whilst some might relax by reading, taking a light walk or spending time with friends and family, the below teams have taken to making parody music videos and my goodness, they’re so bad they’re good! Not just good, but the fact that they’re displaying their light hearted side and humour is such a breath of fresh air, and we forget that these guys are normal, like me and you, apart from they can swim ridiculously quick or kick a ball terrifically into a net.
Take a look at how 2012 Olympic teams have taken some of the most popular songs and added their own sporting personality to them.
