This week I thought we’d divert from the usual musical frolicking and uplifting aural goodness and focus on something a little more sobering - something a little more pertinent and real.
As you most likely have already heard, the release of the latest and final instalment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises was marred with calamity and catastrophe. During a midnight screening of the film in Aurora, Colorado, a masked gunman opened fire upon the theatre audience and, in the chaos and disorder of panic and darkness, killed 12 people.
After international media coverage and a plethora of tributes paid both online and in real life, one that stood out was a composition put together by Hans Zimmer, award winning film composer and music producer; the very same who scored The Dark Knight Rises. Entitled ‘Aurora’, the track has a haunting, emotive resonance about it, particularly relatable as we reflect upon not only the tragedy of these lives lost at the hands of a destructive, disillusioned individual, but upon the harsh actuality of the loss of innocence that is sadly rife in the world today.
‘Aurora’ is the embodiment of hope for the future and tribute to those lost. Thank you Mr Zimmer.

"Aurora" is dedicated to those who lost their lives and were affected by the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado. I recorded this song in London in the days following the tragedy as a heartfelt tribute to the victims and their families. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Aurora Victim Relief organization. The track is available on iTunes shortly and you can donate here: http://bitly.com/QmUiWM "
