The Paralympics is set to start in as little as 4 days. I cannot contain my excitement, especially after the 16 days of pure pleasure and pride the Olympics provided us a couple of weeks ago. I’ve taken to watching a few documentaries about the Paralympics, and the stories that encompass each and every single athlete is ridiculously inspiring. The way that the guys and girls come together to represent their country, and excel in such a fantastic display of brilliance and overcome all obstacles is absolutely immense.

The official Team GB song for the Olympics and the Paralympics is Kimberly Walsh and Alfie Boe’s cover of Queen’s anthemic ‘One Vision’. So, what better song to get boom from your speakers than Queen’s awesome classic about unity and team spirit? Freddie Mercury’s holographic appearance at the closing ceremony went down an absolute storm, and his voice and legacy continues.

The Story

‘One Vision’ was first released by Queen in 1985, and it also appeared on the band’s Its a Kind of Magic, which was released in 1986. The song was originally conceived by Roger Taylor.

It has been speculated that the song was the creation from either the band’s show stopping performance at Live Aid previously that very year (1985), or by Martin Luther King, who personifies overcoming all odds, which the lyrics narrates.

The song was performed at every single concert Queen performed at during their Magic Tour, and it was chosen as the introductory song as it was stated that it was the perfect track to kick off a concert.
