The juxtaposition of the opening, thunderous rhythms and the melodic, open stringed guitars of the chorus perfectly captured the awesome power Cream possessed in the mid-late 60s. Each member of the band put their stamp on every song; from Ginger Baker’s rhythmic force, to Jack Bruce’s soulful vocal and the virtuosic guitar playing of Eric Clapton.

‘White Room’
was a track favoured by many fans around the world, even to this day where the single is remembered for it’s more simple structure in comparison to some of Cream’s more outlandish feats of musicianship.

The Story

After initially being refused by the record company to be included on the Disraeli Gearsalbum in 1967, Cream released the track as a single in 1968 off their double album Wheels of Fire.

‘White Room’ was a huge success reaching top #30 in a number of countries including UK, USA and Australia, the latter reaching #1.

The album Wheels of Fire had similar success with, becoming the world’s first platinum-selling double album, and solidifying Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton as the world’s first successful supergroup under the guise of Cream.
