The Vaccines have just announced a show at the O2 Arena on May that will follow their sold out tour promoting Come Of Age, their second album released two weeks ago which peaked at number 1 but still remains on the charts at a comfortable number 6, but do you think is too soon for them to be aiming at such a massive venue?

We remember the chronological evolution of The Vaccines through their gigs and tell you a bit about each show to help you decide if they're ready to entertain 20.000 people at once.

Only a few months after their first set of singles were released, we caught them opening the night for Crystal Castles at an NME Awards Tour. It was a rather big venue but they were playing at 18:30 so the actual capacity was only populated by a few dozens of curious buzz band seekers.

Right after the release of their debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? they played a sold out show at the Barfly, where singer Justin coincidentally mentioned that one of the band's aims when they started out was to headline a night at the Camden's Barfly. It was a packed sweaty night that ended up with Young crowd-surfing for the whole duration of the closing song 'Norgaad'.

After playing during the summer at every single festival that you could think of including a memorable appearance at Glastonbury, and two sold out Electric Ballrooms as part of their headline tour their schedule this one off gig in London to feed the fans before going away on tour again this time as support of the Arctic Monkeys. The whole debut album was performed at this "homecoming" night and we were also treated with a handful of b-sides and covers.

After another headline tour during the winter (this time with Frankie & The Heartstrings as support) and the release of an intriguing non-album single 'Tiger Blood' produced by Albert Hammond Jr, The Vaccines scheduled a brief seaside arenas tour, that included a striking performance at the huge Brighton Centre. This time they even had the chance to handpick the support bands and the show was recorded and released as the Disc 2 of the deluxe edition of Come Of Age. No more beige shirts at bowl cuts! YES!

Right before the release of Come Of Age and right after an unbelievable performance at the main-stage of Reading & Leeds festival and supporting The Stone Roses at Heaton Park, The Vaccines played this intimate venue in a Banquet Records night to promote the album in sort of an expanded in-store style. The fans already knew all the words of new tracks and judging by the amount of beers thrown towards the stage we can conclude that they loved them!

Maybe it was our last chance to see them from such a close distance, but what do you think? Will they be arenas-only material from now on?
