If you thought festivals were all about muddy fields and overrated headliners then think again. This time we recommend you a two-day-one-venue extravaganza in the heart of Amsterdam but with emphasis in new exciting music from the UK and the US.

The London Calling Festival is held twice a year at both of the rooms of the emblematic venue Paradiso (right in the outer ring of the city center) and during its 20 years of existence it has seen bands like Bloc Party, The Cribs, Blur, Placebo, Franz Ferdinand, Florence & The Machine, The Libertines, The Automatic, The Maccabees, 1990s, Jamie T, Friendly Fires, Noah And The Whale, Frankie & The Heartstrings and the list goes on endlessly with all your favorite bands way way before they became your favorite. I mean come on, even Supergrass made their Dutch debut there back in 1992 when they were still called Jennifers!

The line up for this year is as impressive as its legacy, during the first night we will be able to enjoy a little American invasion in the hands of Twin Shadow, all-girls trio Haim and the Joy Formidable who will surely delight us with an electrifying performance. The night will also have our favorite new psychedelic rockers Temples, and the electro-R&B sensation AlunaGeorge coming straight from London, just like us.

On Saturday after you had a mandatory wander around the city (you'll have plenty of time cause the doors are at 18:30) Mercury Prize nominated Jessie Ware will hit the stage followed by old acquaintances The Walkmen, Tame Impala's favorite French singer Melody’s Echo Chamber, and two other amazing bands that we've been following closely recently: Peace and the almighty Savages.

And you know what's even better? You won't have to make any difficult decisions about which bands to see because at London Calling there are no stage-time clashes. The schedule was carefully planned to have a band playing downstairs while the band upstairs is doing the changeover and vice-versa. Yes I know, genius!

Tickets are on sale HERE at 35 EUR for the whole weekend or 20 EUR if you fancy going to just one of the dates. Also if you're planing on traveling from the UK and you have enough time to take a bus, there are extremely cheap tickets going from £45 round trip that will take you right to Amsterdam's Central Station.

Well you've heard us, if you're an eager music fan looking for the next big thing or if you're looking for the coolest festival setting ever, you can't miss London Calling Festival, plus I've heard that the pints prices will make your inner drunk jump... That's your weekend city break sorted!
