Your latest Album "An Answer Can Be Found" sounds amazing! Does the Title have a reference to anything specific?

Deron- It’s relative to a song from our first album Vol. 1. The song “96 Quite Bitter Beings” has a line in it that says all we ever wanted was an answer.
Chad- In reflection of that, we’ll continue with an answer that can be found, this surely isn’t the last CKY record.

How long has CKY been around? And how long did you grind things out before getting valid recognition?

Jess- We started calling ourselves CKY in ’97.
Chad- Deron and Jess started playing together and met up with Chad in Nov. ‘97. In Nov of ‘97 we did a demo which became Volume 1.
Chad – I produced and worked on the record with them and we worked well enough together that we formed the band and I devoted myself to CKY. I stopped working with other bands.

I read that your music plays on past episodes of MTV's Jackass?

Deron- Good for you.
Chad- And a million other shows on MTV.
Jess- My favorite was cribs.

Do you get any responses from fans noticing your music on Jackass? I'll be honest by saying I never noticed, but I'm one person.

Chad- Jackass isn’t on the air anymore.

What do you feel gives you the most recognition for your work? Is it your music being in films and TV or just the sheer grass roots approach of contacting fans and touring? Out of all you have done what creates the greatest impact on listeners?

Deron - It’s a mix of all of it.
Chad - A huge amount of truth in our music and you can’t put CKY in one genre. We don’t write music for you.

In regards to being on a major label Island records. Do you sometimes feel lost in the large roster of artists or does the label show enough interest in pushing your album to keep you guys happy?

Chad- It’s always yet to be discovered these days, staff changes all the time, more can be done but I feel like we’ve never really relied on a label to do things, we’d like them to think we need them. We don’t even know who’s on the label.

Is there one song on the new album you feel is the "cats pajamas" or the stand out track over the rest?

Deron- We really don’t try to focus on all of our energy on just one song, we put all of our energy on all of the songs on the record. We don’t put any filler material on the records – they all stand out.
Chad- The one in particular to me that stands out, is an instrumental, Soley deron on his guitar. It’s an interlude on the record, its’ just Deron playing his guitar. That stands out to me because we haven’t done that before.

In your experience, do you think that being on an indie label is best for an upcoming artist?

Chad - I wouldn’t sign a contract until you get a whole lot of money.

If you were to compare the US fans from the UK fans, who would you say is more open minded and easier to reach on a creative level? I've personally noticed that UK listeners have a more open mind to new music. Do you believe this to be true as well?

Chad - I’d say the US. UK fans – I wasn’t brought up there so I think they are more reserved in their display of rauwkus rock and roll. They watch us like they are watching a movie. Americans are a bit more rude so I’m in to that.

I like to keep these Q&A's short, so for my last question: What can you tell Altsounds users about CKY that almost no one has heard before? Maybe a tiny little secret from your past or present to shock their system.

Chad - We don’t hold secrets. Go to ckymusic.com- all the answers can be found.

*Thanks for taking the time with us! Good luck with the CD, and we will make sure that Altsounds listeners who haven't heard you will get the opportunity to be enlightend. To hear more from CKY visit www.ckymusic.com for the full scoop.
