Best live memory from a tech perspective? Recording a cool indie band in the early hours of the morning

Worst live / recorded moment? Recording session with out of tune singers trying to harmonise

What gear do you wish you had and why? Anything that gives a retro and vintage synth sound, synth’s that sound like the music in the 70’s

WATCH // 'Glass House'

What do you plan on purchasing next to better yourself technically?
An MPC, I love doing drums so anything that has drum pads or the MPC will be a blast, I will smash them all day. I had one, and broke it within a week

Production

What do you for physically recording? Logic Pro 9

What mixer / audio interface do you use? Mbox, although looking to get a new focusrite

What do you use for drum recording?
I use battery 3 for my drums and load in my own samples, or sometimes addictive drums, a cool drum program that give you real sounding drum sounds. If live, I mic up with the AKG D112 for the kick, SM58 for snares, SM57 for toms and AKG 451B

What do you use for guitar recording? I use a cool plugin from Applied Instruments called Acoustic Guitar or Electric Guitar, sounds as close to real as you can get it

Bass? Triliogy. If God was bass, Triliogy will be the garden of eden .. if that makes sense.

Additional stuff like strings, electronic pieces etc? Kontakt 4, Session strings and Acoustic Piano, I use a lot of Native Instrument plugins.

Vocals? Waves plugins, that whole series is phenomenal, If God was a vocal, he would want to be treated by Waves plugins

Self taught or tutor taught? Self taught mainly, a little teaching as I studied music in college and do at university

What is the first thing you ever produced?
Can’t remember, it was probably something for a girl I used to like when I was 14. Maybe.

What is, in your opinion the best thing you ever produced? A track on my soundcloud called purple hearts.

What do you watch, read etc do better yourself and your chosen profession? A lot of documentaries, Hippie documentaries, trippy videos, thing that are weird, usually with colours and swirly things coming at you.

Number one tip you can give wannabe producers in terms of their instrument choice? Your main instrument is your head, anything else are merely pawns that aid your take over, but it starts with your head.

Waves Plugins, anything Native Instruments make, and Triliogy. Also make up your own sounds, do not just stick to pre-sets.
