Mike from altsounds.com was lucky enough to get a chance to talk with one of Victory Records (http://www.victoryrecords.com) newest signings "The Forecast". They had a little Q & A all of which is detailed below. Enjoy.

Altsounds.com Interview With The Forecast (05/18/2005):
Q&A with Mike Borgia, Staff Writer @ altsounds.com

Q. So what got you started playing music and why?

A. We come from a pretty small town so there is not much to do. The second i went to a local show I knew that i wanted to start a band. At first it was just something fun to pass the time, i never thought it would go this far.

Q. How did you all meet?

A. I met Tony while he was playing in another band from the area and Matt and Shannon were in a band together before The Forecast. Those projects dissolved at the right time and we decided to give it a shot.

Q. What drives you to play music?

A. Being able to travel the country, meet lots of people and not having to work a real job. It's the American Dream.

Q. What have you done to get the attention of Victory Records? It reads in your bio they signed you for being a great band and a good bunch of guys? Hmm is there more to the story?

A. We recorded "Late Night Conversations" then sent Victory a copy. They were into it so we went up to meet up with Tony. Once we met him and saw how passionate he is about his bands we knew it would be a good home for us, i think the feeling was mutual.

Q. I was also reading in your bio you are from Peoria, IL? What is the health of the current music scene there? The reason I ask is that it seems more bands are being discovered in less metropolitan areas?

A. It's actually pretty thriving. I think small towns or less metropolitan areas are giving birth to more bands because you have to work really hard in the midwest. I think the mentallity of the midwest is really awesome. It's not like the coasts where you can play shows all the time because everything is so spead out in the midwest so it makes bands try really hard to be the best they can be and as sincere as they can be.

Q. How did you release your records before Victory? Was it your own personal budget? Or did your families pitch in?

A. One of the original members of the band runs Thinker Thought Records so he has taken care of the release before Victory.

Q. Do you all still live at home?

A. Yeah we all recently moved back in with our parents so that we dont have to worry about bills and all that comes with living on your own. It just seemed to make more sense since we are planning to be out on the road non-stop for the remainder of this year.

Q. Within the industry there seems to be confusion or delusion on whether the age of an artist really matters in regards to how the fans respond or relate. Do any of you feel it matters regarding success?

A. No I don't really think it matters. I hope that a sixteen year old can relate to our record but at the same time I think a guy in his thirty's can relate to it as well. I think if you are honest and
sincere in what you do that you can suceed no matter what your age.

Q. What is in your CD player or Ipod right now?

A. Fire When Ready, they have a new record coming out in June. We have never met anyone nicer/ more sincere than those guys. Also Planes Mistaken for Stars "Up in them Guts" again amazing guys that put out amazing records.

Q. Will you be in this for the long haul? Or are there other plans related to music one or all of you will pursue down the road?

A. Yeah we are in the long haul this is all we want to do. It's the only thing we are remotly good at doing so hopefully it all works out. It would be awesome to still be putting out records in out fiftys im sure that if The Forecast isn't around that we will still be putting out records somehow.
