1.) Who is who, and who does what in the band?
Mark does vocals keys and guitar, Adam does guitar and keys, Clarke Does Bass and keys and Dan does drums and samples.
2.) I know that A/A is composed of members of two other bands that broke up, how did you all get together to create A/A?
All the bands we were in broke up at around the same time so it seemed like a good idea because we all were into similar music and stuff.
3.) How has the tour been, whos sick, and how has that affected to tour thus far? (did ya get to a hospital last night?)
NO we didnt Mark has been really sick, he must have a flew or something. It affects his vocals mostly.
4.) You guys seem to have a lot of musical ability in general, was it hard trying to get all the parts down for each person (since 3 of you play 2 instruments during many of the songs?)
Not really you just have to concentrate on the parts themselves as well as the transitions between the 2 instruments.
5.) If you could describe A/A to the laymen, how would you describe it?
Its kind of like a double negative. Like action is the opposite of words but action speak louder than words. Its wierd i dont know if it really makes much sense to anyone but us.
6.) If you could be a superhero, or have superpowers, what would they be and why?
We would be the Fantastic 4 cuz Dan is definately the thing.
7.) If you did porn, what would your porn names be?
What do you mean if we "did" porn?
8.) Being from NY, do you see more of a trend of going back to a more 80's sound in more bands, or is it going in other directions?
When we first started to tour we were playing with mostly punk/emo/rock bands and often times we would be heckled because of our keyboard setup. I do think that a lot of bands are following the trend and doing a more synth/keyboard driven sound. Wether that is good or not we will soon see.
9.) DCYF was a great record, what about the new one will be the factors that will top it?
Its a little bit more of everything it has more synth but rocks just as hard. Some of the songs are very out there and disjaunted on purpose. We just hope that our fans can get into it and follow what we are doing.
10.) What are some current musical trends that hurt the indy scene these days? And What would fix it?
I think that many bands lack creativity which is the coolest part about being in a band. Anyone could play an instrument or be in a band that sounds like someone else but its those who go out and search for new sounds that really help the music scene.
11.) During your offtime, what do ya do on tour to keep from going crazy?
We watch a lot of cartoons like The Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force we also try to drink our problems away which is not a really good solution.
12.) Favorite Books, CD's, and Movies of all time?
Our favorite movies are Life Aquatic, Royal Tenenbaum's, Big Lebowski. Favorite Cd's would be The Beatles White Album, The Zombies Odessy and Oracle. We do alittle reading but not much ya know when we can fit it in.
13.) Since you guys have been touring alot as of late, what are some favorite places to eat and such?
In and Out Burger rules! We usually like the hometown mom and pop eaterys the best.
14.) Cats, Dogs, or something else?
Something else... we are more likely to say cats though.
15.) Pancakes, yay or nay? and why?
Yay. One reason you can put anything in them, apple, blueberry, chocolate chip.
16.) You guys seem to take the colors of your music, merch, layouts (etc) in a way different direction than most bands I have seen as of late...what made you go after those colors and color schemes, is it an homage to the 80's or...?
No it was something we actually were kind of opposed to but got thrown into. Were really excited about the new layout for the new album cuz we had a lot of input in that.
17.) If you won the lottery (millions upon millions) what would ya do with it?
Buy everything and anything I saw inclding people. Then cure world hunger.
18.) Do you think its easier for a band to do well now in the indy scene than before, or is it just a dictation of trends? And Why?
I dont think its any easier they still have to go out and tour and play shows and bust their balls. Its just luck and right time and place kind of thing.
19.) (this is for my friend) What gear and set up do ya use?
We use Marshall and Ampeg amps. We play Gibson and fender guitars and all sorts of pedals and stuff. Dan uses a Pork Pie kit.
20.) Anything you wanna reccomend to the kids to pick up (music, book, movies, videogames, etc)?
Our new Cd "An Army of Shapes Between Wars", which comes out January 24th, 2006. Sorry got to plug ourselves. Get the new Family Guy movie on DVD its great.
21.) SHOUT OUT TIME
We want to thank all our fans/friends/family and everyone that has helped us be in this band and make music we love. Thanks!
