Chris Taylor Brown is one of the best looking dude rockers on the scene. He has male model good looks and young girls have been swarming and swooning since Trapt debuted in 2002. I found his digits on the wall of a bathroom stall, and since I was looking for a good time, I gave him a ring.
Trapt's new album
Only Through The Pain tackles the subject of relationships, so I thought he'd be a good person to turn to for advice. Not for me, of course. I can barely keep up as it is with all the sex and offers for sex and things I get constantly. But perhaps you, avid internet user, could use some pointers on how to get in good with the ladies, irl.
This interview is done in loving memory of your virginity.
How To Get Laid:
You have to tell yourself that you deserve to get laid and believe it.
You go up to the best lookin' girl in a club, go up to the bar, order a drink turn to the girl, look at her and go 'what, you couldn't dress up to go out with me tonight?' You at least get giggle out of it.
Does that really work?
Yes.
You should try telling a girl she needs to contract CTBs. [laughs] That could work, too.
How To Land A Good Woman:
Again, I think its what you think you deserve. How confident you are in yourself and that kind of stuff. Also, you have to date a few women to know what makes a good woman. You want to be comfortable. You want someone who is laid back. For me, a good woman that has her own backbone and she's willing to stand up to her boyfriend if he's being a retard. She has her own thing going on and she's not dependent on anyone or anything. She's just doing her own thing. At the same time, obviously, she has to do something for you.
Red Flags (What to look out for if the first 2 work):
If her moods are erratic right away. She goes from excited to sad and back and forth. If she's a little bipolar when you first meet her, that's a red flag.
If she's gonna be a bad girl. Like, if she's overly flirtatious in front of you. If you wanna deal with that, I guess you can, but it's only gonna cause trouble. You dont want your girl hanging around a whole bunch of dudes...I mean shes not really respecting you.
If every time you walk past some nice thing in a shopping mall or a clothing store, she wants you to buy it for her. That's a big one.
Best Way To Break Up:
You gotta know those red flags and be able to tell if shes gonna throw a brick through your window! I've been lucky, I haven't had any of those. There is no easy ways to break up. If you've been with someone for a long time, it's hard because you don't want to feel bad, you don't want to make them feel bad. You get comfortable, but you just gotta have some balls and say 'I can't do this with you.'
Not everything is easy in life. You gotta do some things that are tough. Just cut it. Don't beat around the bush.
How To Mend A Broken Heart:
When you're really into someone and you lose them, you feel that anxiety and that empty stomach feeling. Just concentrate on it and feel those feelings as much as you can. The longer you ignore it, the longer it will linger. I find it helpful to just concentrate on the anxiety in one place in my body and just go through it instead of numbing yourself. You go through that pain and it just makes you stronger when you come out of it.
For every guy I know, you get your heart broken and your pride shattered..the next time it's not as painful. The next time something doesn't work out, you can handle it easier. You think I can jump into a relationship and try it. I've done it before and I know I can handle it. You can better navigate through a relationship because you're not afraid of losing the person all the time.
You're smokin hot and you're the singer in a rock band. How easy is dating for you?
It
should be easy.
[laughs] Relationships should be comfortable. You shouldn't be scared about being in a relationship or approaching girls. You have to look at yourself and ask yourself why it's so hard and either change those things or accept it.
Let's talk about the downside of being a super hot guy- super hot girls. Sure, they're nice to look at, but they're as dumb as a bag of hammers. [laughs] No one has told them that they're dumb as a bag of hammers! If you're not as good looking as other girls or whatever... well, when I was growing up, I had glasses and I was a dork. For the first few years when I moved from the east coast to the west coast, I didn't really have friends until I was like 12. I mean, I know how it feels when a girl looks through you like you're not even there. I know how that is. It makes you humble because you don't think you can just get any girl you want. You just learn how to connect to other people. You can meet with someone and think they're gorgeous but something doesn't click. There's no connection. You have to have something, and being hot isn't always enough. If someone has told you you're not the greatest, it humbles you. Don't just work on what you look like, but work on your personality. Then you can be in relationships and stuff.
There are a few really hot chicks that are really cool. I guess no one ever told them they're the hottest thing in the world, it's a good thing.
Will your new album, Only Through The Pain in stores August 5th, mend a broken heart? [obvious plug is obvious]
There is some of that element to it. But it's about being honest with yourself and allowing yourself to feel pain. Not everything in life is happiness. Not everything is perfect. You need to know how shitty life can be. There's good times and bad times and you need both. The record has positive songs that aren't about pain, they're about pleasure. Then there are songs about really going through the shit. You can't have one without the other. You can't appreciate it as much.
