ALTSOUNDS - Hello Dividing The Line! Who am I speaking to?

DTL - Andy (Alan)

You remind me of a younger Funeral For A Friend but with bigger balls and therefore baggier jeans, is that a compliment? I think that it is.

Baggy jeans are always a compliment as we are all greebos at heart. Big thrive on keeping it slack. As for the FFAF thing, anything prior to the last album is a compliment. Toddy has huge balls so that is definatley true although i can't speak for any members of FFAF about the size of their baby makers.

So you have just released your debut E.P a few months ago 'Foundations', are you happy with it?

Yeh we were fairly happy with it! I say fairly because it took so long to realise that by the time it came out we had progressed alot and got a new drummer so it didnt really represent us at the time as much as when we wrote it.

If I was incredibly ignorant and only judged bands on one song, what Dividing The Line song would you make me listen to and why?

Time To Thrive would be a pretty good place to start. It has alot of variation in terms of dynamics, some slick guitar work, pumping fishy bass lines and a bit of synth for the kids But it was not recorded with the current line-up so is not the best reflection of us atm. Although our new single coming out in September is going to be by far the best reflection of us!

A lot of people have made similar music to yours in the past, what is different about you and what can you offer the already saturated world of music?

Well we like to keep things interesting in slaying terms, plenty of interesting riffs. No matter what anyone says everyone likes a sweet meoldy and we have plenty of those. Plus we constantly push ourselves to progress and change unlike alot of bands who stick to what they know or simply get worse. (see answer2!)

From what I can gather your live shows are more alive than an epileptic on speed at a rave eating sherbet straws, is that the best way to experience Dividing The Line?

For sure it is. Sometimes naked, sometimes on the floor, mostly intoxicated and always sweaty. And i have raved epileptic style with the best of them.

You're from Worcester, is there a big support for Walker's Worcester sauce crisps or do they all sell equally as well? There's not a boycott of that green scally Salt & Vinegar is there?

Being from Worcester instills a sense of pride and achievement in you that nowhere else can dream of. waking up everyday knowing that you live in the place where the purple dream that is Worcester sauce was invented brings tears to the peepers. No other crisps are sold here.

What's going on in your hometown music scene at the moment?

There are plenty of young bands trying their hand although it seems we are gtting more and more out of touch with whats going down. Being on tour alot makes it hard to really grasp whats going on.

What's the plan of action in 2008? Anything big lined up?

The biggest thing at the minute is our single which will be released in September again through Small Town Records. We will also have a video for that which will hopefully hit the TV screens. We have European tour with We Are The Ocean and a UK tour with All Forgotten and Lioness lined up and more tours in the pipeline, plus we are writing an album so plenty to keep your eyes peeled for!

I hear that your bass player is a fishmonger. If you could take any fish on tour alive or dead, what would you choose and would it be a mega laugh or just a damp soggy weapon just in case trouble finds you?

Well Toddy (bassist) is affectionately known as the sturgeon surgeon so i guess it would be one of them. They reach the official size of 'chonging' fish, so plenty of fishy flaps on board. Plus they have a long nose perfect for jabbing. But if you want to know about bands keeping fish in their van ask We Are The Ocean......

Does the bass fretboard smell of fish or is there some sort of hand wash that Dividing The Line would like to endorse? Here's your opportunity to hint for a sponsorship.

Toddy smells of an accumulated mix of fishy features, 'massive boy' disease and various complex tour odours. The only thing we endorse is steering clear of his bulky mass at all times.
