What do you look for in your music?

We all have our favorites. The music that we will listen until the day we die, but every now and then we hear something that captivates us. I have picked up at least 5 new favorite artists in the past month and today, while at Stewarts Restaurant, I found myself tapping my foot to the golden oldies.

So what is it you love most about the music you hear?

I am a fan of harmony and melody. But I don't think there is any formula to my tastes at the same time because I like some of the heaviest shit and then I also like some of the danciest. It just whatever grabs me I guess.

Ummm...for me it's lyrics, then there's how well the band's sound meshes together. Harmony and melody are great things I look for too.

I look for the tingle down the spine and when your hair stands up when you hear a track or live band. Nothing can beat that feeling.

A nice smile, GSOH, and willing to try new things in the bedroom.

Oooooooor................I'm a sucker for a good melody or hook of some kind too. For me, music with no discernable melody whatsoever, like say......a Mum track, is just noise.

My favourite band of all time, Pixies, found Kim Deal after placing an ad looking for someone who liked Husker Du and Peter Paul & Mary. That kind of sums it up really, no matter how heavy you wanna get, you gotta have a melody of some kind, even if it's only in a guitar part or keyboard line.

Mum are a very aquired taste, you have to be in the right mood to listen to them. Good shout on the pixies, very cool band.

Yeah I suspect I haven't given them enough time. I have only heard a couple of tracks that I really didn't like.

It's good to see you are clearly someone very open minded when it comes to music though, I am hopeful you will appreciate Animal Collective. Let me know what you think in their thread. If you like what you hear I will burn a copy of Strawberry Jam and send it to you.

Just had a listen, and i like these. Track three 'Grass' on their myspace sounds like an Arcade Fire Remix. If you could send me a copy that would be brilliant mate
