Static Radio NJ - Summer Tours

* In support of debut full-length An Evening Of Bad Decisions

STATIC RADIO NJ (New Brunswick, N.J.) is hitting the road today for an East Coast tour with Chicago's Shot Baker. The band is also booking an August tour with Let Me Run (XOXO Records).

Both tours are in support of Static Radio NJ's debut full-length An Evening Of Bad Decisions, out later this summer on Black Numbers. You can pre-order the record here or pick up a copy from the band at shows.

An Evening Of Bad Decisions was recorded in Hoboken, New Jersey with acclaimed production company The Machine Shop (Armor For Sleep, Boys Night Out, Every Time I Die). Not only does the album deliver on the foundation laid down by the band's terrific debut EP,One for the Good Guys, it builds a towering skyscraper of soaring melodic punk rock anthems squarely on top of it. Bad Decisions is the record we all thought Static Radio NJ was capable of making. Sometimes it's nice to be right...

THE ANTI MOTHER is complete.

In his live review for the Los Angeles Times, August Brown noted of the new material: "Atlanta metal-core quintet Norma Jean made a convincing case for rock's potency, as the riffs from its forthcoming album, 'The Anti Mother,' lived up to singer Cory Brandan's claim that it's 'so heavy, it'll make you want to punch a dolphin in the blowhole'" (6/23/08). Why Steven Tyler Is In Rehab

durrrr

I am sure no one is really surprised by this. Last month, Steven Tyler announced he was checking in to rehab to recover from 'foot surgery.' I think we all collectively rolled our eyes, but then dropped the issue. Aerosmith is legendary. You just don't talk about them like that.

Well, as it turns out, Steven Tyler told us the truth we didn't even ask for, revealing an addiction to pain pills and sleeping pills that he developed following foot surgery. He's been playing shows for more than 30 years, and that takes its toll. He was prescribed some pills to help him recover, and the obvious happened.

Tyler was last in rehab in 1986 to recover from drug and alcohol addiction. Now the 60-year old frontman is whipping himself back into shape to go back on the road. Read more

Boy George Denied Entry

back door AND front door

Boy George was denied a Visa into the US and has been forced to cancel his summer tour. Boy George, whose real name is George O'Dowd, is currently awaiting trial on false imprisonment charges. Apparently a 18 year old man is claiming that he was chained up and threatened by Boy George, who lured him there to work as a photo model.

George has plead not guilty to the charges, and while the UK has not restricted his travel in any way, the US Visa Office denied him entry anyway. The tour had been planned to kick off in Aspen, Colorado on July 10th. He plans to re-schedule for the winter.

Boy George said in a statement released earlier today. Read more

The Beatles Used To Like Each Other

Lost Interview Airs on BBC

For those of us who were not around back then, it is difficult to imagine The Beatles being young artists just starting to live the dream. Lennon died before I was born and Paul McCartney's solo music has never been very good. But I would hear about The Beatles and how they changed music forever. Almost seems like mythology.

A lost interview from April 30, 1964 was recently discovered sitting in a film canister in an abandoned London garage. The interview was conducted for a Scottish television station and has never been broadcast outside of Scotland. The audio portion of the 9 minute interview was found to be usable and the BBC aired it on Tuesday.

The tape features much younger versions of Lennon and McCartney, who had just returned from their first trip to the United States where they appeared on The Ed Sullivan show and played at the Washington Coliseum, events that would later be considered historic. The two artists discuss how they met and what their songwriting process Read more

Photoshop Can Do Anything

except un-endanger a species

BEIJING (Reuters) - China has sacked a number of government officials and arrested a man in connection with a set of fake photographs that local authorities had said was proof of the existence of a highly endangered tiger.

In October, forestry officials in Zhenping county in northern Shaanxi province published photos of a tiger in a forest setting, saying they were proof of the existence of the South China tiger. A local farmer who produced the photos was paid a 20,000 yuan (1,453 pounds) reward.

Nine months later, officials admitted the photos were faked, state media said, citing sources at a press conference held by the Shaanxi province government.

Thirteen local officials, including Zhu Julong, deputy head of the province's forestry bureau, and its top wildlife official Wang Wanyun, were sacked, Xinhua said.

Zhou Zhenglong, the farmer who claimed to have taken the photo using a digital camera, was arrested on suspicion of fraud, Xinhua said, after police seized a picture of Read more

Come & Get Your Tittsworth

The Not So Annonymous "12 Steps" out August 12th 2008

For anyone tuned into the sounds of today’s club culture, you’ll be aware that one of the most exciting and well championed of dance musical frequenices and beats is the ‘Baltimore’ or ‘B-more’sound. Spotlighting a genre whose artists dabble and dwell in the "b-more" scene on an international level. From Diplo, Annie Mac, M.I.A, Aaron La Crate, Scottie B and Sinden - One artist who truly stands out is Tittsworth (yes, that's his real last name). Up until recently this sonic movement was mostly confined to the city which gives it its name, however things are already changing with the clever combination of hip-hop attitude and house music, the energy and enthusiasm is spreading like wildfire on an international scale.

http://img.ymlp20.com/magnumpr_tittspressshot.jpg

It seems Baltimore provided the answer to the ‘what’s next?’ question that left many scratching their heads as hip-hop’s former appeal dulled out and the youth of today were left needing something to claim as the Read more
