Altsounds - The Bookhouse Boys - DEBUT ALBUM RELEASED ON AUGUST 18TH ON BLACK RECORDS

A crashing 9 piece orchestra of Mariachi brass, dueling drums, surf guitar and girl-boy vocals, The Bookhouse Boys burst forth from the bars and clubs of North London, with a pair of 7" singles earlier this year. Mixed by Head (PJ Harvey, Archie Bronson Outfit, Thom Yorke) their eponymously titled debut album is released on 18th August on Black Records.

An unruly bar band of artisans, punks and east end rogues, their music is that of violent redemption and salvation, wrapped in the soundscapes of Ennio Morricone and prosecuted with the sinister zeal of Queens Of The Stone Age and The Pixies. It inspires a unifying euphoria, embodied by the bloodied surf rock of Dead, Tonight and new single I Can't Help Myself, the sinister creep of The Valley and Shoot You Down, and the all embracing quasi-evangelical, Baby I Gotta Go and I Believe.

Twice Steve Lamacq's 'Record Of The Week' at 6Music, their singles have revealed an exhilarating stampede of surf guitar and searing horns, yet over the course of an album, they are able to boast an enviable versatility. Front man Paul Van Oestren readily delivering a seductive often sinister croon, and amid waves of aching brass and amber toned organ, the ghostly vocal of Catherine Turner completes an engrossing collective.
