Offers Up Another Free Track From Your Anchor

Last month, Menomena’s Danny Seim released the eight (or ninth?) full-length under his solo moniker, Lackthereof. Your Anchor, delivered July 22nd via Barsuk Records, has been landing praise left and right since its release. Check out a ton of quotes below. Danny recently contributed a trippy reading of the Book of Solomon to Daytrotter’s Bookery section. As editor Sean Moeller says, “you’re going to be hypnotized by this whacked out reading/recording made by Menomena drummer and Lackthereof mastermind Danny Seim and when you awake from the trance – inspired by the piece to paint your body green, speed-eat a pork chop and four apple pies, caress a complete stranger and then cannonball into a quiet pool, bellowing, ‘Behold thou art fair,’ in Latin or French.” Yeah, what he said. In addition, Seim is following up the release of last month’s “Last November” with another standout from the album, “Choir Practice.” Listen below.

What The Press Is Saying About Your Anchor:

“Your Anchor rises nicely to the challenge of being Lackthereof's first high-profile release. ”Doomed Elephants" has a great, hooky bassline, and "Ask Permission" features a great instrumental break with jangling guitars rising over a smooth bed of Rhodes piano. The latter is one of the album's finest tracks, a confirmation that Menomena's ear for texture runs deep in all three members.” - Pitchfork

“With subtle, atmospheric keys, hushed bongos, and art-pop drums that meet pulsing, reggae-groove bass, Last November (off Your Anchor) tops Seim’s aforementioned goals” - of making the most poppy album he could muster.” - Spin

“It’s only a matter of time until fans start thinking of that other trio of his (Menomena) as the side project.” - CMJ

“A rumbling collection of basement jams.” - Under the Radar

“Lackthereof incorporates finely-tuned electro beats to boost lethargic vocals into harmonic climaxes. Your Anchor is most certainly worth a listen or 50.” - Black Book

“Your Anchor is a deliberate and natural extension of Menomena’s skewed art-pop charm.” - The Portland Mercury
