DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE - NOVEMBER TOUR DATES & SINGLE

Death Cab for Cutie have announced a UK tour for November which kicks off in Belfast on November 12, and includes a date at London’s Alexandra Palace on November 19. The tour coincides with the release of ‘No Sunlight’ on November 17 (Digital November 10), the third single to be taken from Death Cab for Cutie’s stunning sixth album Narrow Stairs. The album, which was released in May, entered the UK chart in the Top 25 - the first time the band has broken the UK Top 40 - and debuted at number 1 in the US.

Produced by the band’s own Chris Walla (who has produced for The Decemberists and Tegan & Sara), Narrow Stairs is shaping up as Death Cab’s most-praised work to date. NME wrote "Narrow Stairs' is more challenging, uncompromising and brilliant than any number one US album since Radiohead turned boring’, whilst The Fly said ‘Death Cab prove themselves masters of the bigger picture…magnificent’, and Uncut declared that ‘the LP extends the soundscape to IMAX proportions’. The release of ‘No Sunlight’ follows the 8 minute epic ‘I Will Possess Your Heart’ and recent single ‘Cath’.

Death Cab for Cutie performed three sell-out shows in the UK in July (which included a date at London’s Brixton Academy), and at Koko as part of the iTunes music festival. The band also treated fans to a special pre-album show at The Electric Ballroom in May. In a five star live review, The Guardian proclaimed the band as being ‘at the peak of their powers’, whilst Kerrang! reported that ‘DCFC are absolutely breathtaking to behold’, and The Evening Standard declared them ‘a band whose moment has come at last’. Along with numerous headline dates around the world, the band have also played a number of festivals this summer including Japan’s annual Summer Sonic Festival, Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee, Spain’s Benicassim Festival, and the UK’s Latitude Festival.

Formed at Bellingham University, Death Cab have received consistent acclaim from critics and fans alike in their ten-year history. In 2005 the band received a Grammy nomination for the platinum selling album, Plans.
