LOCKSLEY

Timeless songs and a contagious youthful optimism are the foundations of Wisconsin raised, Brooklyn based Locksley - comprised of Jesse Laz (vocals/guitar), Jordan Laz (bass/vocals), Kai Kennedy (lead guitar/vocals) and Sam Bair (drums). Locksley's unique brand of modern garage-pop comes from combining the melody, harmony and songwriting ethos of the 60's with the performance sensibilities of early American Punk and modern garage. To give more direct perspective, their album and live shows most commonly draw comparisons to The Beatles, The Kinks, The Cure, The Clash, The Stray Cats, The Libertines and The Strokes.

Locksley were labeled 'the show to see' by the New York Daily News and Alternative Press gave their album Don't Make Me Wait a 4/5 and heralded them one of the best unsigned bands in the country as well as one of 100 bands you should know in 2007. ELLE Magazine featured the band with an 8-page spread in their 2007 March Fashion Issue. Billboard Magazine touted them as a 'Hot New Artist', SPIN a 'Breaking Out' artist and Rolling Stone "one of the top 25 bands on MySpace". Since they self-released Don't Make Me Wait in 2007, Locksley has found great success with advertising media, this generation's radio. STARZ movie network, Payless Shoes, AT&T and Sylvania have all featured the bands music in primetime commercials. Movies and television have been quick to catch on, with the films Over Her Dead Body and Cloverfield both featuring Locksley songs and MTV using "Why Can't I Be You" as the theme song to their show of the same name. MTV has been very receptive to Locksley, using a majority of their songs as padding for ads and shows on their network. Locksley's video for "Why Can't I Be You" won MTVU's the Freshmen and was placed into rotation on MTV and MTVU, making Locksley the only unsigned band with that distinction. Later this summer MTV will be featuring Locksley as one of their 52 Bands and a Discover and Download artist. They recently appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live and remain one of only two bands to play three songs on the latter program.

While advertisers and critics have embraced Locksley's songs, it is their blistering live performances that have earned them their rabid fanbase. The band has toured with The Hives, Rooney, Hanson and the Rapture in addition to completing 2 full US tours, a UK tour and a Japanese tour of their own, playing along the way with Panic at the Disco, OkGo, The Almost, She Wants Revenge, We Are Scientists and The Dandy Warhols among others.
