Deathwish News: Trap Them, Carpathian, Rise And Fall, and more!!! Trap Them "Seizures In Barren Praise" CD out 11/11, Pre-order now!!! Trap Them "Seizures In Barren Praise" CD will arrive in stores on 11/11. Vinyl will follow shortly thereafter... Pre-order this release NOW in the DW Estore... Once again engineered by Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios, "Seizures In Barren Praise" shows Trap Them at their most vicious. Having mastered their art of aural bludgeoning, the album musically rips, stomps, and claws forth with rabid emotion. All of this a fitting backdrop to Ryan Mckenney's lyrical stories of depression and pain. "Barren Praise" is a fictional ghost town version of every non-fiction town" says McKenney. "Lyrically, previous Trap Them releases are all stories from people who had lived in "Barren Praise" before deciding to up and leave. This is the story of those who stayed behind to tell the stories of watching everything unfold..." states McKenney. Upon listening, it's hard not to picture fragments of your own life as part of the chaotic debris that are these fictional lives. The friends, family, and faces of those that make up the ensemble cast of your own life are all there, indirectly. Making "Seizures In Barren Praise" a broken mirror into their world and your own, exposing every fear, weakness, and wound. All of it set to one of the heaviest and most punishing metallic soundtracks, ever. Trap Them Tour Dates Trap Them "Seizures..." Re: Deathwish News: Trap Them, Carpathian, Rise And Fall, and more!!! Carpathian "Isolation" CD/LP out 11/11, Pre-order now!!! Carpathian "Isolation" CD/LP will arrive in stores 11/11. Pre-order NOW in the DW Estore... Since forming on Victoria Australia's Mornington Peninsula over five years ago, Carpathian have been an indestructible force on unstable ground. Hampered by incessant line-up changes, they've nonetheless managed to assert their dominance in the Australian hardcore pack. Releasing their debut EP through Washed Up label in 2005, they were signed to Australian label Resist, who issued the acclaimed full-length album "Nothing to Lose" the following year. Further forging their reputation on the live front, Carpathian played second-fiddle to no one, whether mixing it with the cream of the local scene or stepping up onto bigger stages for tours with Killswitch Engage, Bleeding Through, etc. After battling line-up changes, a freshly unified Carpathian line-up toured through the UK and Europe alongside Parkway Drive and On Broken Wings. Later they became the only local band to play every date on the Australian legs of the 2007 Taste of Chaos Tour. Then in December, came the first rec! ording by the rejuvenated line-up, a limited two-song 7"EP via Resist titled "Wrecked", unveiling a frightfully intense new Carpathian sound. Soon after they converged upon the Getaway Group, a studio situated in the basement of Jay Maas' suburban home in Wakefield, Massachusetts. A respected hardcore producer who has pulled huge sounds from the likes of Shipwreck a.d. and Verse, Maas proved the perfect choice to help Carpathian realize their grand vision for "Isolation". Within each of the ten songs that comprise "Isolation", Carpathian's overall growth is apparent. Cohesive song-writing, fantastic recorded performances, and a powerful collective vision shine throughout. Lyrically "Isolation" walks the desolate personal path of Carpathian vocalist/lyricist Martin Kirby. Taking on personal and social/environmental subject matter, he strives to not only express but also educate willing ears to live as positively in this negative world. Instilling the fact that Carpathian are one of the few bands out there today that remain as inspiring as they are highly entertaining. Re: Deathwish News: Trap Them, Carpathian, Rise And Fall, and more!!! The Building of a Beast: Rise And Fall issue new album update After months of silence, Rise And Fall have issued a massive update regarding their upcoming album, to be released on Deathwish in 2009. Also be sure to check out the photos (to the left) of the band constructing their new practice space, it's pretty amazing... Rise And Fall Update Late September '08 Today is september 29th and it's crazy to realise that almost a year has passed since we originally booked studiotime at Godcity in november '07. All 4 of us thought it would be challenging and above all possible to write a record within a really narrow timeframe, starting the minute we ended our last US tour in august '07 'till we would hit the studio in november that same year, and that it would make for a record where all songs add up to one compact beast. However we forgot to take in account that nothing is ever easy when it comes to Rise And Fall and even more so when it comes to writing. None of us wanted to write the same record we already wrote. While "Into Oblivion" came as a natural progression, the next step up from the previous record "Hellmouth", now we stepped away from the blueprint that determined our writing process. While working like that makes space for creative input from all angles it also takes away the very foundation of what you are used to when creating music. As stated higher none of us wanted to make same same record we already did but whilst doing so we also kept in mind that we wanted to write and record a record that is 100% Rise And Fall. So taking that in account, also losing our rehearsal place 3 times, building our own rehearsal place to not have to deal with those problems anymore, encountering times where we would rather fight eachother than play music together and experiencing the disadvantages of a democracy within a band first hand...all of this brings us one year later. As we speak we are recording demos for 8 tracks we are satisfied with at this point, we have scheduled another demo session early '09, we're stoked Kurt @ Godcity still wants to work with us after we flaked out on him last year and are looking forward to the experience of working with him. And above all, we will be more than stoked when a new Rise And Fall record is fact instead of some vision in our heads. Keep posted to be updated on how our writing is coming along and more Rise And Fall related news in general. Re: Deathwish News: Trap Them, Carpathian, Rise And Fall, and more!!! Narrows "Self Titled" 7"EP & Bitter End "Self Titled 7"EP out now!!! Narrows "Self Titled" 7"EP Narrows are comprised of a seasoned cast of musicians: Dave Verellen (Botch, Roy), Rob Moran (Unbroken, Some Girls), Ryan Fredereksen (These Arms Are Snakes), Jodie Cox (Tropics, Bullet Union), and Sam Stothers (Makeout Boys, Quarantine). Frozen Moscow lakes are but a fraction of the desperate cold love that exists in Narrows' music. With an overdriven/soaked bass, ghostland guitar work, brooding drums, and a shrapnel laced voice, Narrows prove they are built for the darklands we live in. Narrows' "Self Titled" debut was recorded and engineered by Ben Verellen (Harkonen, Roy), brother to vocalist Dave Verellen. In these three remarkable songs, Narrows transcend the tired sub-genres of hardcore/punk/metal and leave their own unforgettable musical scar. Proving that they are the celebrated past, awe inspiring present, and infectious future of today's heavy music community. Bitter End "Self Titled" 7"EP Bitter End are an intense hardcore band from San Antonio, Texas, influenced by the metallic New York Hardcore bands of the late 80's and early 90's. With their exhaustive touring and their debut 7"EP "Mind In Chains" (Malfunction 2005), they established themselves as a brute force in the hardcore community. Refining their mid-tempo power displayed in their previous release, Bitter End took it to the next level with their debut album, "Climate of Fear". Tight production accentuates song after pummeling song, creating a controlled chaos few bands could achieve. Paying homage to their influences (Cro Mags, Killing Time, Breakdown. etc) while firmly establishing themselves as part of the new breed of the heavy hardcore elite. This latest effort, a three song "Self Titled" 7"EP, shows Bitter End evolving and sharpening their technical ability and song writing power. Both full tracks "Power Struggle" and "Purgatory" clock in at over four and five bludgeoning minutes respectively. Each song twists and turns with dynamic riffing, potent vocals/lyrics, and bone shaking breakdowns. Proving that Bitter End are growing to be true leaders, not followers, in the metallic hardcore sub-genre. Click here to enter the DW Estore |
Re: Deathwish News: Trap Them, Carpathian, Rise And Fall, and more!!! Cold World "Dedicated To Babies Who Came Feet First" CD/LP out now!!! "Dedicated To Babies Who Came Feet First" is the highly anticipated album from Cold World. Over a year in the making, the album was produced and engineered by Biohazard guitarist Billy Graziadei at his Underground Sound Studios. The 15 songs that make up "Dedicated..." tell a chilling real life tale of struggle in the world as we know it today. From the opening bounce of "Boom Bye Bye" it's apparent that Cold World's musical grit and power have risen to new levels to tell that story. This artistic progression is reinforced as the album unfolds. When the title track "Dedicated..." explodes forth (featuring guest vocals by George of Blacklisted), it's clear that the band have crafted an unforgettable hardcore anthem. While standouts "Roaches And Rats" and "Whagwan (Featuring Warrior Queen)" combine a bleak lyrical commentary, hip-hop character, and hardcore intensity as only Cold World can. And with "Do The Knowledge" and "Time To Break Down" Cold World pay hom! age to longtime influences Life Of Agony and Biohazard, weaving together polished melodic vocal hooks and metal/crossover heaviness. Altogether these twists and turns create an album as sonically diverse as it is infectious. Ultimately propelling Cold World into their own untouchable class; surely to be imitated, but never to be duplicated. 10/02: Allentown, PA @ Crocodile Rock w/ Biohazard Photo: Tanner Douglass Cold World Tour Dates Cold World "Dedicated..."
