The Tunics - Debut single 'The Cost of Living'

The Tunics - Debut single 'The Cost of Living'
New single: ‘Cost Of Living’ released 8th December 2008 through indie label Manta Ray Music.

Introducing three young upstarts hailing from Croydon:
The Tunics are Joe Costello (vocals & guitar), Scott Shepherd (bass guitar), and Max Karpinski (drums) and their unique brand of lyric-driven, incisive rock’n’roll is being unleashed on the 8th December, with the release of their debut single ‘Cost of Living’.

This statement-of-intent single is the first to be lifted off The Tunics’ stunning forthcoming debut album. ‘Somewhere In Somebody’s Heart’ (to be released in March 2009) was recorded with young rising-star producer James Lewis who has recently worked with Cajun Dance Party, the Wombats, and Arctic Monkeys.

To reward their fans, The Tunics released a limited edition of this album in selected stores on 2nd June 2008, but not before giving away the music for free for a limited time through their webpage. As a result of this release, the band managed to build a significant buzz online (blogs from China to Brazil to U.S.A), an increasing regional and university press following in the UK, and a growing fan base through their live concerts.

The summer of 2008 saw The Tunics supporting the limited release of their album through a national tour of universities and student club nights. Over the last few months the band has been booked into gigs with the likes of Cage the Elephant, Yeti, Das Pop, and The Clik Clik in some of London’s hottest club nights. Their following has reached into Germany and Holland, where, after playing at ZXZW Festival, they have placed two tracks in the Free40 Dutch independent alternative charts.

Having built on an independent grassroots campaign of their own, The Tunics are ready for their introduction into the UK mainstream with Cost of Living.

Praise for The Tunics:
If you like upbeat indie with startlingly sophisticated lyrics, The Tunics may be the band for you. They're like the Arctic Monkeys with extra oomph. – Vanguard Online (www.vanguard-online.co.uk)

…from what I can gather from the six tracks I have had the privilege to listen to, the rest of the record is going to be just as miraculous as these songs… – Room Thirteen (Rating 11/13) (Room Thirteen - Where Music Rocks)

The most culturally vital music I’ve heard all year. – Bridging the Atlantic music blog (bridging the atlantic)
