Australian Indie Duo Launches U.S. Tour on October 20th
And Plays CMJ Showcase On October 22nd At 205 Club

Q Prime's mom & pop music company will release Rearrange Beds, the debut album from An Horse, on February 10, 2009. The indie duo signed to the New York-based label, which is distributed by RED, via Sara Quin, who met the pair during one of Tegan and Sara's Australian tours. An Horse will kick off a U.S. tour with Jessica Lea Mayfield on October 20st at Iota Club in Arlington. Other highlights include a show at Maxwells in NJ on October 21st, CMJ showcase on October 22ndat New York City's 205 Club and a November 11th show at The Echo in Los Angeles. (See below for full itinerary.)

The band's recent series of Australian dates with Death Cab for Cutie were well received by both the crowd and the headliners: "The duo seemed extremely well chosen for the opening set - which was proven later when Death Cab front man Ben Gibbard claimed "they'd only come to Australia if they could play with An Horse..." reported FasterLouder.com.au > Reviews > Music Reviews.

An Horse had its beginnings in a Brisbane basement that housed one of Australia's few remaining independent record stores. After landing a job there, guitarist/vocalist Kate Cooper promptly ditched her law studies and soon started talking with her co-worker, drummer Damon Cox, about forming a band. The record store tanked shortly after they began playing live, but fortunately the pair was landing a decent amount of gigs by then - including an opening slot on Tegan and Sara's spring 2008 U.S. tour. At the tour's final show in New York City, Quin introduced them to Michael Goldstone, who had just left his post as President at Sire Records to helm mom&pop. "Thankfully Michael liked our songs," recalls Cooper. "And we liked Michael." Shortly thereafter, An Horse became one of mom and pop's first signings.

"Kate's lyrics about love, relationships and the tendency to fixate on disabling neurosis in oneself have become my mission statement," said Quin. "I get goose bumps, electrical currents running up my arms listening to them - I love this band."

An Horse recorded Rearrange Beds with producer Magoo (Regurgitator, Midnight Oil, Skunkhour) at Applewood Studio - a spooky old church in the Australian bush, as they put it. The album was mixed long distance by Howard Redekopp (The New Pornographers, Tegan and Sara), who is based in Vancouver BC. "Every morning over a two-week period Damon and I would wake up to a new mix in our inbox," says Kate. "We would listen to it and talk about it together and email our thoughts back to Howard - usually before 8:30 a.m.!"

From the exuberant "Camp Out" and hypnotic, ambient "Little Little Little" to the eerie "Shoes Watch" and the staccato "Postcards" with its distorted guitar and driving beat, Rearrange Beds explores the unsettling nooks and crannies of relationships. An Horse captures the elation, the anxieties and the chasms that separate us from one another - all with an underlying sense of hope and resolve as when Cooper sings in "Camp Out:" "This is a song for the one that I love/I haven't met them yet/but I'm quietly confident."

3. Company
