Layne Staley is alive through his fans.

Memory Layne is a book currently being put together about Staley by his fans. The book will be published as the second half of Itch, Love stories about heroin. The author of Itch, Tanya Vece, was supposed to start a book tour in August of this year. After receiving so many beloved memories of Layne from his fans, the author decided to pause publishing and add a second half to her much anticipated book.

In essence Memory Layne and Itch, Love stories about heroin will be published as a two-in-one book on April 5th of 2009. In recent interviews about her book, Tanya Vece has said she is currently accepting fan memories until January 1st of 2009. Each memory will be read and can be about an experience the fan had with the singer, how the singer's music affected the fan's life, or how Staley's music inspired the fan to become a musician.

The memories can be submitted to mediumpress@aol.com. If the submission is selected for use the author will be contacted by February 1st of 2009. When submitting a memory it is important the fan includes their real name and a legitimate phone number.

Tanya Vece's book is based on her experiences with Staley, as well as the last five years of the singer's life. Vece stated in an interview on WXRX radio Staley "had saved my life". The book is a biographical look at both Vece and Staley. Tanya is currently on a press junket to talk about the book and encourage fans to send in their memories for this special project. She is also speaking about addiction awareness.
